Ice Force Hockey traveled to Madison tuesday night and earned a win over the Madison LaFollette Lakers. After a long cold bus ride and a late arrival, the Ice Force were hoping to come out strong . The opposite happened and Ice Force quickly fell behind 2-0. After finally shaking off their bus legs and gaining some momentum, Mitch Demario a sophomore from Franklin wristed a shot past the home goalie to close the defecit to 2-1.
Assists were provided by Brett Pokrzewinski and Ross Zvarych of Oak Creek.
Ice Force stilled trailed midway through the 2nd period when Steve Mares of Greendale tied the game at 2-2. Assists were provided by Kyle Hoffmann and Jake Hardin both of Franklin. The period ended without any goals by either side even though the Ice Force outshot the home team 35-10.
The 3rd period started out slowly until Mike Yablong a senior from Oak Creek skated out from behind the goal line and fired a spectacular shot over the blocker side shoulder of the Madison goalie for a shortlived 3-2 lead. Ice Force continued to pepper shots on the home goalie looking for a game clinching goal but 2 lapses in their defensive zone allowed Madison to take a 4-3 lead. With 2 minutes to go, Ice Force pulled their goalie for an extra skater looking for the tying goal when Zvarych powered out the corner and fired a shot off the goalie for a 4-4 tie. Assists were provided by Corey Chapp of Franklin and Marques Surita of Greendale. The Ice Force was not done as they controlled the face off and with 8 seconds left Kahler Cox a sophomore from Oak Creek took a pass from Demario and fired it past the Madison goalie for a 5-4 win. Goalie Joey Koepp of Franklin picked up his first varsity win. Ice Force out shot Madison 55-18
