Dec. 14, 2009 | 0 comments

Ice Force Hockey played the Germantown Ice Bears Saturday night at Wilson Park hoping to avenge an earlier in the season 10-1 loss.

Ice Force started out strong with solid defense and goaltending and were able to build a 2 goal lead by the end of the first period. Ice Force goals were scored by Brett Pokrzewinski a senior from Oak Creek and Jake Hardin a sophomore from Franklin.Assists were provided by Josh Jesko a junior and Mike Yablong a senior both from Oak Creek.

Germantown came out aggressive to start the second period, shortened their bench to two lines and were able to put up 3 quick goals to take the lead midway through the period. Ice Force was able to regain the momentum when Marques Surita a junior from Greendale powered his way past two Germantown players down low for an unassisted

goal. Germantowm was able to grind out one more goal before the second period horn sounded to take a 4 - 3 lead into the third period.

Ice Force was able to get two more goals past the visitors goalie in the third compared to one for Germantown resulting in a 5-5 tie game. Scoring for Ice Force were Rostislav Zvarych a junior from Oak Creek and Pokrzewinski. Both goals were assisted by Josh Jesko who had 3 for the game.

The crowd was buzzing as the 8 minute sudden death overtime started. Each team had several good scoring oppurtunities as both goalies were on the top of their game. An untimely Ice Force penalty gave Germantown a power play with 4 minutes to go and they cashed in for the 6-5 win. Ice Force goalie ,Joey Koepp a junior from Franklin made 33 saves in the loss.
