Aurora Pharmacy Offers Free Diabetes Screening

June 30, 2009 | 0 comments

Many people have diabetes five to seven years before they even know it, and during those years damage can occur to their eyes, kidneys, heart and nerves. It is estimated 21 million Americans have diabetes and associated costs run as high as $174 billion each year. That’s why it’s important to learn the risk factors for developing diabetes and to receive a free diabetes screening.

“Early detection can really help minimize and prevent damage. That’s why it’s so critical to be knowledgeable about your family history and any symptoms you may have like unusual thirst,” said Chris Groth, diabetes educator for Aurora Health Care.

Aurora Pharmacy will offer a free Diabetes Days clinic from 9:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, July 14, at the Aurora Pharmacy at 6572 South Lovers Lane Rd., Franklin. For more information, call the pharmacy at (414) 425-2000.

There will be another clinic from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Wednesday, July 15, in the Aurora Pharmacy at 13935 W. Capitol Dr., Brookfield. For more information, call the pharmacy at (262) 781-7410.
