Michael Zacher, a senior from Franklin High School, received a $500 scholarship from the South Suburban Chamber at the Franklin High School's awards dinner on May 26.
The scholarship is supported by the Chamber’s Annual Golf Outing which will be held on July 27, 2009 at Muskego Lakes Country Club. The scholarships support students of the community who plan to pursue a career in business.
Michael Zacher, in his application said, “I know that I want to succeed, I want to be a businessman. I want to be an entrepreneur. I want to have a company that is both innovative and benefits my community.” In presenting the award, Barbara Wesener, the Chamber's Executive Director, said Michael is the kind of student that the community and the Chamber is proud to support in his goal of a business career.
Michael has worked in food service and in retail, has been a very active member of the Future Business Leaders of America and is a member of the National Honor Society. Michael has volunteered in the peer-mentor tutoring program as well through the local schools, churches and the community center. He has accomplished all of this while maintaining an excellent grade point average.
