March 30, 2011

Wednesday's March 23rd Meet at Whitefish Bay

The Girls JV Track Team won the meet with 167 points last night in Whitefish Bay. Winning the 400 dash was fast freshman Ashley Smith. Freshman Alexis Rieger finished in second place in the half mile with a tight sprint to the finish. Freshman Katie Babula won the 200m dash and her teammate Haley Branbeck was 2nd. In the hurdles, Freshman Melissa Kirchoff was 2nd. Kirchoff also won the Long Jump, while teammate Montana Mack was 2nd in long jump. Abby Schreiter and Cassidi Poznanski won the Pole Vault. Nancy Vo was 2nd in the High Jump.

The Varsity Team had several amazing performances as well. Sarah Talbott had one of the longest jumps in the state as she went 16 feet 9 inches. She beat all the girls and many of the boys with that jump. Sarah also won the 60 yard dash! Abby Klemp had her best Shot put throw ever; she put it out there 32 feet -two feet farther than the next competitor! Morgan McCuen is still one of the highest jumpers in the state improving her jump to 4 feet 11 inches. Jessica Zeman was second in the pole vault and Katelyn Thomas was 2nd in the high hurdles. They helped the Varsity Girls Track Team finish 2nd place, without all of the team even competing!

Saturday March 25th at the Cardinal Relay Meet at Waukesha South HS

Our hurdles relay of Katelyn Thomas, Zoe Kupfer and Amanda Diedrich finished 2nd in the relay. The Distance medley relay was a very close 2nd, Nancy Vo was tripped in the 440 yard leg of the relay, but did a great job getting back up and handing the baton off to Katie Carlino who ran her first 800m ever in 2:30. Katelyn Salzbuger improved her 800 time as well and Allie Fons ran a mile, passing the two teams she could right away and coming within 2 second of the mile runner from the first place Verona team. The High Jump relay of Morgan, Montana and Katie finished 4th, close to the 2n place relays of Mukwonago and Wisconsin Lutheran. Our sectional is going to have some great High Jumpers from these three teams this year! The Pole Vault Relay of Jessica Zeman, Cassidi Poznanski and Olivia Lampone finished 3rd. Morgan, Sarah and Melissa Kirchoff finished 3rd in the long jump relay. Abby Klemp had another outstanding day and threw 33 feet 8 inches another personal best.
