Hales Corners - Whitnall earned a solid fourth place in the Woodland Conference Swimming and Diving meet Saturday at Greenfield High School.
The Falcons tallied 246 points to finish behind Shorewood (403), Wauwatosa West (395) and New Berlin Eisenhower (259).
"I was hoping to take third place behind Shorewood and Tosa West, but Eisenhower squeaked in a nice 400 freestyle relay (third place) to beat us out by 13 points," coach George Guddie said. "Right before the last event, Whitnall was one point behind Eisenhower."
Rachel Stave won the diving with 468.85 points, breaking her own pool record of 438.9, set in the conference meet in 2010. She also set a new conference mark.
"Last year, at state (when she won the championship), she dove a 470, so she is right on track," Guddie said. "She hit every dive and looked great off the board."
Lauren Engel, who started this year only doing two dives, completed every required dive and finished 12th with 184.45 points.
Laura Sullivan claimed third in the 100 breaststroke in 1 minute, 13.16 seconds and swam on the fourth-place 200 medley relay team with Sarah Arteaga, Lauren Zurowski and Danika Johnson (2:00.14).
Coming in sixth were Arteaga in the 100 breaststroke (1:15.98) and the 400 freestyle relay of Zurowski, Johnson, Laura Sullivan and Mary Sullivan (3:57.49).
Finishing seventh were Zurowski in the 50 freestyle (26.5 seconds) and the 200 freestyle team of Leah Jenk, Stave, Rebecca Wigington and Maddie Vokovitch (1:54.15). Vokovitch was eighth in the 100 breaststroke (1:18.35), giving Whitnall three in the top eight in that event.
Laura Sullivan took ninth in the 200 freestyle (2:08.28). Earning 10th were Elizabeth Streim in the 100 butterfly (1:08.36), Johnson in the 100 freestyle (59.34), Vokovitch in the 500 freestyle (5:51.7) and the 200 medley B team of Rachel Boushon, Vokovitch, Jenk and Jill Kolasinski (2:09.19).
Arteaga captured 11th in the 200 individual medley (2:27.29), and 12ths were taken by Zurowski in the 100 butterfly (1:10.02) and the 200 freestyle B team of Mary Sullivan, Engel, Streim and Kolasinski (1:59.32).
The Falcons will compete in a WIAA Division 2 sectional at Cudahy at 12:30 p.m. Saturday.
