Whitnall's Mathwick on Edgewood men's golf team
Greenfield resident and Whitnall graduate Michael Mathwick is a member of the Edgewood College men's golf team this season.
Mathwick will be a junior at Edgewood, which is located in Madison.
Franklin team claims Little League championship
The Franklin All-Stars 9- and 10 year-old Little League softball team won the state championship with a 2-0 win over Appleton on Aug. 6.
Morgan Peters pitched six scoreless innings, striking out 10 in the victory, while in the fourth inning Kylie Klein hit a two-run single to score Lauren Schwartz and Abby Schwamb with the winning runs.
The team came out of the Franklin Little League. They won the District 6 title and advanced to state by beating Oak Creek, South Milwaukee and Lakeland.
At the state tournament in Appleton, Franklin lost the first game to Appleton, 13-1, and then beat Madison East, 11-1, before winning the rematch with Appleton.
