Eagles soccer team wins State Cup crown
The Croatian Eagles U-16 boys red soccer team went 3-0 to win its bracket at the Wisconsin State Cup on Memorial Day weekend.
The Eagles defeated the three-time defending state champion, 2-1, coming from behind in the second half while playing one man down. They also had to beat another team that had just defeated them four weeks ago in league play. They allowed only one goal in three games, winning by scores of 1-0 and 2-0 in addition to the 2-1 victory over the defending champion.
The Eagles played in tournaments in Las Vegas and Memphis, plus the PUMA Cup Championship and the Croatian Eagles Spring Tournament in Franklin.
Tryouts will be held June 25-26 at Croatian Park in Franklin, with registration at 5:30 p.m. For more information, visit croatianeagles.com or call team manager Mike Domitrz at (414) 810-3443.
