Greendale's Merg wins

UW-W player of week honors

Greendale High School graduate Mary Merg was named the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater's Walmart Player of the Week for women's basketball for the second straight week.

Merg, a sophomore guard, tallied 20 points in a 72-55 victory over UW-Stout, connecting on 5-of-9 from the field, 3-of-5 from 3-point field goal range and 7-of-7 from the line. She also had three rebounds and a pair of assists.

In a 70-56 triumph over UW-Oshkosh, Merg collected 10 points, three steals, one assist and one rebound for the Warhawks.
