Oak Creek girls cross country
Shannon Dugan earned first-team all-league honors and Megan Gray second-team, as the Knights took fourth in the Southeast Conference meet on Saturday.
Oak Creek scored 124 points for its spot, as Franklin edged Muskego, 48-51, for the title.
Dugan was clocked in 16 minutes, three seconds on the 4,000-meter course in taking seventh while Gray was 11th in 16:17.
Other scoring runners for the Knights included Katy Wick in 31st (17:33), Callie Miller in 36th (17:48) and Nicole Koepp in 39th (17:48).
Also competing were Aylissa Bober in 42nd (18:08) and Serena Hukarevic in 47th (18:22).
The Knights will now compete in the WIAA sectional meet at UW-Parkside on Saturday.
Greendale cross country
Chelsey Heiden and Hayley Serketich claimed top-10 spots for the Panthers in the Woodland Conference Meet on Friday at Hales Corners Park.
Heiden ran sixth in 15 minutes, 56 seconds, followed by Serketich in seventh at 15:58. Both made first-team all-conference.
Emily Perszyk came in 25th (16:50), Haley Unger 34th (17:17), Natalie Burton 42nd (17:33), Megan Steiner 44th (17:39) and Sabrina Wolf 47th (17:43).
"Chelsey and Hayley did their usual front running, but I think a big key for us was Haley running a strong fourth position for us," coach Corey Binnebose said. "Emily was just one place from all-conference."
The girls tallied 114 points for fourth place.
The Greendale boys finished ninth with 177 points as Garrett Patterson ran 20th (17:51), Haily Kazik 24th (17:54), Josh Moran 31st (18:10), Ben Smalley 48th (18:53), Bobby Lutz 54th (19:04), Dan Gnadt 55th (19:13) and Tim Treu 61st (19:28). Patterson and Kazik made third-team all-Woodland.
"Garrett and 'Hail' had a goal, talked about it all week and then did something about the goal at the meet," Binnebose said. "I am extremely happy for both, Garrett because he is a senior and the spark plug for our team, Hail because he has improved tremendously since last season."
The Panthers will run in a WIAA Division 1 sectional meet on Saturday at Washington Park, with the boys at 11 a.m. and the girls at 11:45 a.m.
Oak Creek boys cross country
Seth LaBodda, Austin Zajkowski and Jake Schmidt all earned second-team all-league honors as the Knights took sixth in the Southeast Conference meet on Saturday in Muskego.
LaBodda was ninth in 17:07 on the 5,000-meter course while Zajkowski was 10th (17:07) and Schmidt 15th (17:12) as the team scored 120 points. Kenosha Tremper won with 69 as Muskego was second with 89.
Sean LaBodda was 37th (18:19) and Jerry Ryan 49th (19:05) to fill out the scoring ranks while Joey Dzierzewski was 51st (19:35) and Chris Cieminski was 52nd (19:38).
Oak Creek will now take part in the WIAA sectional meet on Saturday at UW-Parkside.
Franklin boys cross country
Nikolai Grabowski was sixth and earned first-team all-league honors in leading the Sabers to a seventh-place showing in the Southeast Conference meet Saturday.
Grabowski covered the 5,000-meter course in 16:51 for his spot as the Sabers scored 132 points.
Other scoring runners included Evan Watters in 24th (17:39), Zach Lee 31st (17:58), William Campbell 32nd (17:59) and Sam Harmeyer 39th (18:24).
Myles Devine was 44th (18:37) and Ben Alt 45th (18:37).
Franklin will now take part in WIAA sectional competition at 11:45 a.m. on Saturday at Washington Park in Milwaukee.
Greendale girls volleyball
The Panthers shared third place in the Woodland Conference Tournament on Saturday at Waukesha.
Greendale, which was seeded fourth, won its three-team pool, but lost its semifinal match to eventual champion New Berlin Eisenhower. No third-place match was played, so Greendale and Greenfield shared third place.
The Panthers open WIAA Division 1 regional play Thursday at home against South Milwaukee.
Whitnall girls swimming
The Falcons routed Greendale, 116-51, in a Woodland Conference dual meet on Oct. 12.
Laura Sullivan won both the 200 freestyle in 2 minutes, 9.62 seconds and the 500 freestyle with 5:45.92, while Sarah Arteaga claimed the 100 breaststroke (1:21.27), Lauren Zurowski the 100 butterfly (1:14.27), Danika Johnson the 50 freestyle (28.4 seconds) and Maddie Vokovitch the 200 individual medley (2:31.23).
Also winning for Whitnall were the 200 freestyle relay (1:59) and the 200 medley relay (2:11.81).
The Falcons finished 11th with 99½ points in the Small School Invitational on Saturday. Rachel Stave won the diving portion with 429.7 points.
Whitnall boys cross country
Alex Richardson came in second with 16 minutes, 41 seconds in the Woodland Conference Meet on Friday at Hales Corners Park.
Mitch Olson was ninth (17:20), followed by Tyler Centers 18th (17:49), Derrick Yimsut 19th (17:49), Mason Howard 52nd (19:00), Pat Wyrowski 57th (19:22) and Blake Stencil 62nd (19:30). Richardson made all-conference first team, Olson second team and Centers and Yimsut third team.
The Falcons tallied 100 points for third place.
They will compete in a WIAA Division 1 sectional meet at 11:45 a.m. Saturday at Greenfield Park.
Whitnall girls cross country
Danika Johnson and Jasmine Van Tine both finished in the top 10 for the Falcons at Friday's Woodland Conference Meet at Hales Corners Park.
Johnson ran eighth in 16 minutes, while Van Tine was ninth with 16:02. Jennifer Bahling claimed 16th (16:25), Alyssa Woo 36th (17:19), Zora Marinkovich 49th (17:52) and Lydia Pincsak 55th (18:10) for Whitnall, which placed fifth with 118 points.
Johnson made first-team all-conference, Van Tine second team and Bahling third team.
Greendale boys volleyball
The Panthers downed Greenfield, 25-12, 25-23, 25-15, on Oct. 10 in a Woodland Conference match.
Justin Povlick totaled 19 digs, Jason Genz 12 kills and Matt Grieshop 17 assists and four aces.
Greendale dropped a 23-25, 22-25, 25-13, 25-13, 15-12 match to New Berlin on Oct. 12 despite 20 digs from Povlick, 11 kills by Genz and 15 assists and three aces by Jake Kurczewski.

The Panthers lost a tough 2-0 decision to Sun Prairie in a WIAA Division 1 regional match on Oct. 11, ending their season.
Franklin girls tennis
The fine season for the Sabers came to a quiet conclusion when the all-senior doubles team of Shannon Murawski and Kayla Plath (13-15) dropped a 6-0, 6-4 first round decision to Sheboygan North's Jamie Testwuide and Hannah Proudman (17-5) at the WIAA Division 1 State Doubles Tournament in Madison.
Murawski and Plath were the Sabers' only qualifiers. Franklin finished a strong season taking second in the Southeast Conference meet and third in the WIAA sectional tournament.
Testwuide and Proudman then lost in the next round to the eventual third-place team from Nicolet.
Oak Creek boys soccer
The Knights finished their fine season with a tough 1-0 WIAA regional final loss to South Milwaukee on Oct. 13.
With the loss, Oak Creek finished the season with an 11-5-2 record. They had advanced to the regional final with a 5-0 win over Cudahy/St. Francis on Oct. 11.
In the win over Cudahy/ St. Francis, goals went to Christian Alfaro (Esai Perez assist), Alex Mrotek (Chris Schuerman), Matt Hargreaves (Matt Alfaro), and Zach Lisiecki (2). Perez had another assist on one of Lisiecki's goals.
Seniors for the Knights included Eric Chilson, Lisiecki, Luke Mathers, Schuerman, Matt Alfaro, Marcus Maksimovic, Mrotek and Kevin Alcehocj.
Franklin boys soccer
The Sabers ended their season with a loss to the best, as they fell 10-0 to defending state champion Marquette in a WIAA regional final on Oct. 13.
Franklin (5-13-1) had advanced with a 1-0 regional semifinal victory over Greenfield on Oct. 11.
Seniors for the Sabers included tri-captains Shaun Diederich, Richard Park and Nathan Renner; Alex Hanemann, Daniel Chung, Logan Soich, Spencer Ritzow and Jonathan Mueller.
Whitnall boys soccer
The Falcons fell, 6-0, to Madison LaFollette in a WIAA Division 1 regional contest on Oct. 11, ending their season.
Whitnall girls volleyball
The Falcons lost in pool play at the Woodland Conference Tournament on Saturday at Waukesha.
Earlier last week, Whitnall fell to New Berlin West. Ashley Markowiak collected eight kills and Allison Czaplewski 20 assists.
The Falcons began WIAA Division 2 regional action on Tuesday at East Troy. If they won, they would visit either Wisconsin Lutheran or New Berlin West on Thursday in a semifinal match.
Franklin boys volleyball
The Sabers continue to move forward, as they downed Burlington in a 25-22, 25-20, 23-25, 14-25, 15-10 decision on Oct. 10 and then finished fourth in the powerhouse Whitefish Bay Invitational last Saturday.
In the win over Burlington, Christian Nilssen had 12 kills, Evan Repavich 14 and Danny Kingstad 13; while Ben Bartels had 49 assists and Matt Curtis 11 digs.
In the Bay tourney, Franklin defeated Wauwatosa East 25-23, 21-25, 16-14, in the championship quarterfinals before falling to second-ranked in state and eventual tourney champion Catholic Memorial in the semifinals, 25-15, 25-16.
Franklin girls volleyball
It was a rough day for the Sabers at the Southeast Conference Tournament last Saturday, as they dropped three two-set matches to Kenosha Tremper, Oak Creek and Racine Horlick to finish eighth.
Megan Carr had 31 assists and four blocks on the day while Caitlin Koska had 13 kills and six blocks and Mel Roemer 24 digs and three aces.
"We played a hodge-podge line-up," said coach Ken Huber. "Despite players in different positions, the girls played hard throughout the entire day. In Game 2 versus Horlick, the girls were trailing 13-2 and managed to trim this lead to 20-23. The girls never quit and showed their desire to play hard despite the circumstances."
Franklin hosts Racine Horlick Thursday in a WIAA regional semifinal at 7 p.m. The winner will visit top-seeded Muskego in a regional final at 7 p.m. Saturday.
Oak Creek girls volleyball
The Knights took sixth in the Southeast Conference Tournament last Saturday as Muskego won and Kenosha Tremper took second.
During the tournament, the Knights earned a 25-23, 25-21 win over Franklin.
The Knights will now host Racine Case in a WIAA regional semifinal on Thursday. If they win, they will advance to a regional final at 7 p.m. Saturday at the sectional's second seed Union Grove.
Greendale girls swimming
The Panthers lost a 116-51 dual-meet to Whitnall on Oct. 12 in Woodland Conference action.
