March 24, 2010 | 0 comments

Whitnall senior guard Will Pelkofer and Franklin junior forward Nick Romanowski were named to the 2010 NOW All-Suburban Boys Basketball Team.

The team was chosen by the NOW sports staff as well as the fans for the first time ever through online voting.

It is the first selection for both players.

Stories on both players will appear online and in the paper April 1, along with profiles on the remainder of the team: Menomonee Falls' J.P. Tokoto, Greenfield's Alec Molter, New Berlin West's Chad Mathwig, New Berlin Eisenhower's Mitch Sperka, Brookfield Central's Alex Diciaula, Whitefish Bay's John Johnston, Germantown's Zak Showalter and Wauwatosa West's Sam Krenzien.

With 124 points, Romanowski finished third in the fan voting behind Molter's 385 and Diciaula's 328.

Tokoto, a highly recruited sophomore, is the NOW Player of the Year. The Wauwatosa West coaching staff was named the NOW Coach of the Year.

The NOW All-Suburban Girls Basketball Team will be announced April 1. Oak Creek's Ashley Luke and Angela Rodriguez, Greendale's Mary Merg and Franklin's Taylor Atkinson are among the 15 finalists for the team. Fans can vote for their favorites at all MyCommunityNOW.com sites through March 27.

Voters are entered into a random drawing for Milwaukee Bucks tickets.

Profiles on all girls are scheduled to run online and in NOW print editions April 8.
