Police Report: Oct. 16

BURGLARY

1A Dell laptop computer, prescription medication, jewelry and Social Security cards were stolen from a home in the 6400 block of South 123rd Street between 8 a.m. and 3:30 p.m. Oct. 9. The thief appears to have entered the residence through an unlocked rear door in a secluded backyard.

THEFT

2A set of keys was stolen from Walgreens, 9527 S. 27th St., between 12:30 and 12:45 p.m. Oct. 7. An older Hispanic male wearing a baseball cap can be seen on video surveillance reaching behind the cosmetics counter and stealing the keys. Police are following up.

3Checks were stolen from Top Hat Logistical Solutions, 5390 W. Ashland Way, prior to 10:20 a.m. Oct. 9.

4A 21-year-old Ukraine man was arrested for shoplifting a $20 jacket at Walmart, 6701 S. 27th St., at 8:30 p.m. Oct. 9.

5A 26-year-old Milwaukee man was arrested for shoplifting $5 worth of items at Salvation Army, 6341 S. 27th St., at 8:35 p.m. Oct. 9.

6A 22-year-old Milwaukee woman was arrested for shoplifting after she was seen concealing items at Walmart, 6701 S. 27th St., at 7:40 p.m. Oct. 10.

7A purse was stolen out of a locked car in the lot at Risen Savior Lutheran Church & Preschool, 9501 W. Drexel Ave., prior to 8 p.m. Oct. 10. The rear passenger-side window was smashed to gain access to the car.

8A credit card was stolen from a man's wallet at Whitnall Golf Course, 6701 S. Park Road, prior to 6 p.m. Oct. 11. The victim stated his card was stolen out of his wallet after he left it inside his unlocked vehicle in the parking lot.

9A hand cart used to push garbage cans and recycling to the curb was stolen from a property in the 9100 block of South 47th Street prior to 8:40 a.m. Oct. 12.

10A 23-year-old Milwaukee man was arrested for shoplifting two pairs of tennis shoes from Dunham's Sports, 6525 S. 27th St., at 2:50 p.m. Oct. 12.

11A 34-year-old South Milwaukee man was arrested for shoplifting after he was seen switching price tags on a pair of jeans and children's shoes, changing the price of the items from $42 to $6 at Walmart, 6701 S. 27th St., shortly after 5 p.m. Oct. 12.

12A 72-year-old woman was arrested for shoplifting after she was seen concealing items in her purse, then dumped the items into a trash can in the restroom at Goodwill Industries, 6941 S. Riverwood Blvd., at 5:40 p.m. Oct. 12. The merchandise was recovered by Goodwill.

13A handgun was reported stolen from the basement of a home in the 7400 block of West Brunn Drive at 7:50 p.m. Oct. 13. The theft occurred between July 14 and 7:30 p.m. Oct. 13.

14An unidentified male entered a rear storage area and attempted to cut open an electronic storage case containing iPhones and iPads at Walmart, 6701 S. 27th St., at 12:40 a.m. Oct. 14. The man was unsuccessful.

15A license plate was stolen off a car at McDonald's, 7501 W. Rawson Ave., between 6:45 a.m. and 12:15 p.m. Oct. 14.

16Coins were stolen from an unlocked automobile in the 7100 block of South Madison Court prior to 7:45 a.m. Oct. 14. Residents in the area took video of a white male teenager with shaggy, long dark hair and wearing a blue-hooded sweatshirt and bright blue pajama-type pants trying to open car doors in the area. Police are investigating.

17A 23-year-old woman and a 17-year-old girl were arrested for shoplifting after they were seen concealing merchandise at Walmart, 6701 S. 27th St., at 6:35 p.m. Oct. 14.

DRUG POSSESSION

18A 15-year-old boy was arrested for possession of marijuana and drug paraphernalia and cited for trespassing after he was found inside a garage in the 3700 block of West Southwood Drive at 5:22 p.m. Oct. 9. The boy was carrying a skateboard and a backpack and is believed to be the same person involved in recent beer thefts from garages.

DRUNKEN DRIVING

19A 49-year-old Franklin woman was arrested for drunken driving in the parking lot at Pick 'n Save, 7201 S. 76th St., at 9:35 p.m. Oct. 12. She refused to have her blood-alcohol content tested.

ACCIDENTS

20A semi-driver was cited for making an improper right turn after his flatbed trailer struck a traffic pole and knocked it over on 76th Street at Ryan Road at 11:50 a.m. Oct. 12.

VANDALISM

21Three mailboxes were damaged after being struck by a vehicle in the 2800 block of West Central Avenue about 9:30 a.m. Oct. 10. The driver fled the scene and police were unable to find the vehicle.

OTHER

22A 28-year-old Milwaukee man was arrested for drugged driving and cited for disorderly conduct and obstructing an officer in the 3600 block of West Ryan Road at 2:45 a.m. Oct. 10. The man refused to perform standard drug testing and refused to give a blood sample at the hospital. He was also taken into custody on a probation violation and turned over to the Milwaukee County Correctional Facility.

FIRE CALLS

23Firefighters and police officers responded to a house fire in the 8000 block of South 35th Street shortly after 5:30 p.m. Oct. 9. The house was fully engulfed in flames when emergency vehicles arrived. The fire appears to have started on the west side of the house near the northwest corner. The homeowner's 2012 Dodge Durango SUV in the garage also was destroyed. Loss is estimated at $150,000. No injuries were reported.

Franklin police responded to one domestic violence call and assisted with one fire call between Oct. 9 and Oct. 15.
