Police Report: May 15

May 13, 2014

Theft

1 A pair of headphones and a phone charger were stolen out of a student's backpack at Franklin High School, 8222 S. 51st St., between 2:45 and 4:30 p.m. May 1. Police were given the name of a possible suspect.

2 About one cord of freshly-cut honey locust branches, valued at $150, was stolen from a driveway in the 9200 block of South 29th Street between 3:30 and 7:30 p.m. May 4.

3 A 26-year-old woman stole seven cans of baby formula at Pick N Save, 7201 S. 76th St., at about 7 a.m. May 5. She was arrested for the theft May 9 after she admitted stealing the formula while she was being held at the House of Corrections for another retail theft.

4 A 25-year-old Milwaukee woman was arrested for shoplifting clothing at Walmart, 6701 S. 27th St., at about 1:10 p.m. May 5.

5 A Dolmar red and black backpack-powered blower was stolen out of an unlocked Landworks Landscaping trailer parked in the 9800 block of West Woelfel Road at about 10:15 a.m. May 6. The man, described as a bald Hispanic male wearing a white T-shirt, fled as a passenger in a maroon Chevy Impala with royal blue license plates that was last seen traveling northbound on Highway 100 toward Hales Corners.

6 A 65-year-old woman and a 66-year-old woman, both of Milwaukee, were arrested for shoplifting a total of $109 worth of merchandise at Goodwill Industries, 6941 S. Riverwood Boulevard, at about 11 a.m. May 6.

7 The driver of a green GMC Yukon with out-of-state plates left without paying for $92 worth of gas at Kwik Trip, 10750 W. Speedway Drive, at about 11:30 a.m. May 6. The man is described as a 5-foot-10-inch, heavyset white male between 30 and 40 years old and wearing a green hoodie.

8 A 47-year-old Milwaukee woman was arrested for shoplifting $46 worth of clothing at Salvation Army, 6341 S. 27th St., at about 2 p.m. May 6. She was also taken into custody for having a valid warrant for possession of drug paraphernalia with the Greenfield Police Department.

9 Scrap metal was stolen from a property in the 2800 block of West Franklin Terrace at 3:30 p.m. May 6.

10 A 23-year-old man and a 26-year-old woman shoplifted $239 worth of Red Bull drinks and a 10-pack of Monster Energy drinks at Pick 'n Save, 7780 S. Lovers Lane Road, at about 5 p.m. May 6.

11 A 29-year-old woman was arrested for shoplifting $100 worth of groceries at Pick 'n Save, 7780 S. Lovers Lane Road, at about 10 a.m. May 7.

12 A 38-year-old man who called police to report items were stolen from his unlocked trailer in the 3000 block of West Drexel Avenue was arrested for having two outstanding warrants for child support through the Rock County and Milwaukee County sheriff's departments at about 2:35 p.m. May 7.

13 A 35-year-old man was arrested for defrauding an innkeeper after he became highly intoxicated and left without paying his bill at the Park Motel, 7273 S. 27th St., at about 6:40 p.m. May 7.

14 A 26-year-old Milwaukee man shoplifted $30 worth of air fresheners at Walmart, 6701 S. 27th St., and then fled on foot toward Planet Fitness and Home Depot at about 7:25 p.m. May 8. The man was located and arrested by police at about noon on May 12.

15 A 55-year-old Milwaukee woman was arrested for shoplifting $115 worth of clothing and shoes at Walmart, 6701 S. 27th St., at about 12:45 p.m. May 9.

16 An employee's TYME card was stolen off her desk at Franklin Medical Center, 9200 W. Loomis Road, sometime before 1 p.m. May 9.

17 An unidentified male shoplifted a $248 Sony home theatre system at Walmart, 6701 S. 27th St., at about 2:30 p.m. May 11. The man, described as a 6-foot-2-inch black male weighing about 135 pounds and wearing a black T-shirt and a royal blue baseball cap with a red bill, got into a white car with a "CarMax" plate that was driven by another black male. The same suspects are believed to be involved in a similar retail theft at the Walmart in West Milwaukee on May 9.

18 A 33-year-old man stole two bottles of alcohol at Walgreens, 9527 S. 27th St., and then fled in a green Pontiac Grand Prix at about 1:30 p.m. May 12.

Assault

19 A male juvenile was arrested for battery after he bit his mother on her left bicep, causing bruising and pain at a residence in the 6300 block of South 35th Street at about 10:45 a.m. May 12. The boy apparently bit his mother after she told him she was going to take his cell phone away from him.

Drug possession

20 A 34-year-old West Allis woman was arrested for possession of drug paraphernalia and operating after revocation (third offense), and a 45-year-old South Milwaukee man was arrested for possession of cocaine (second and subsequent offense) and possession of drug paraphernalia (state charge) after K-9 Degan located two glass pipes, one with a crack rock in it, inside their vehicle during a traffic stop in the 2500 block of West Drexel Avenue at about 1:30 a.m. May 6.

21 A 23-year-old Franklin man was arrested for drugged driving and possession of marijuana and drug paraphernalia after his car was pulled over for a traffic violation in the 8200 block of West Drexel Avenue at about 1:55 a.m. May 9.

22 A 27-year-old Franklin man was arrested for drugged driving (third offense) and possession of marijuana and drug paraphernalia on South 35th Street and West Crest Court at about 2:30 a.m. May 9.

Drunken driving

23 A 28-year-old Wind Lake man was arrested for drunken driving and cited for texting while driving after an officer saw him swerve out of his lane several times while driving in the 8800 block of West Loomis Road at about 1 a.m. May 8. He was also cited for deviating from a designated lane. A preliminary breath test indicated a blood alcohol content of 0.16.

24 A 54-year-old Milwaukee woman was arrested for drunken driving (third offense) after a motorist reported she was swerving out of her lane of traffic, braking for no reason and then accelerating while talking on a cell phone in the 6800 block of West Rawson Avenue at about 1:10 p.m. May 8.

25 A 39-year-old Caledonia man was arrested for drugged driving and cited for an unsafe lane deviation in the 5100 block of West Oakwood Road at about 3 a.m. May 10.

26 A 28-year-old West Milwaukee man was arrested for drunken driving (second offense), eluding and operating after revocation after an officer attempted to pull him over for speeding in the 7600 block of West Rawson Avenue, and he led police on a 4.4 mile pursuit that ended when his vehicle ran over spike strips in the 10900 block of West Speedway Drive at about 3 a.m. May 11.

27 A 19-year-old Milwaukee woman was arrested for violation of absolute sobriety laws when she registered 0.05 during a chemical breath test after she was pulled over in the 6800 block of West Kathleen Court at about 2:30 a.m. May 13. Two passengers in her car, an 18-year-old woman and a 19-year-old man, were also arrested for underage drinking.

Accidents

28 A 21-year-old man was transported to St. Luke's Hospital after he suffered an unknown medical condition that caused him to drive his 1979 Ford Thunderbird into a backyard and strike a retaining wall in the 2900 block of West Rawson Avenue at about 9:35 p.m. May 11.

Fire

29 The Franklin Fire Department and police responded to a garage fire in the 8100 block of South 36th Street at about 8 p.m. May 11. All the residents of the house were evacuated safely, and the fire was extinguished. Damage to the home is estimated at $60,000.

Other

30 An 18-year-old Franklin woman was arrested for disorderly conduct in the 8300 block of West Puetz Road after she sent an inappropriate photo to another person via text message at about 4:15 p.m. May 5. She was also arrested for possession of a Schedule II drug without a prescription.

31 An unidentified person passed a counterfeit $20 bill at Gus' Mexican Cantina, 6514 S. Lovers Lane Road, at 12:35 p.m. May 6.

32 A man reported that a referee punched him during a soccer game at the Milwaukee County Indoor Sports Complex, 6000 W. Ryan Road, at about 2:15 p.m. May 10. The responding officer interviewed the caller and several other witnesses and found the referee had pushed the coach of the soccer team and struck the caller in the chest with a closed fist.
