Franklin police searching for suspect in armed robbery

Franklin police responded to a report of an armed robbery in the parking lot at the Staybridge Suites, 9575 S. 27th St., on Oct. 29.

According to a police report:

A woman told police she was walking to her car in the parking lot at 10:20 p.m. when a man wearing a ski mask came out of some bushes, held a gun to her head and demanded her purse.

After handing over her purse, the victim returned to the bushes near where her vehicle was parked, and followed the man to a red sedan. The suspect was last seen traveling southbound on South 27th Street.

The woman's purse contained about $250 and miscellaneous identification.

Police checked the area and initiated several traffic stops but did not find the suspect. An investigation is ongoing.
