Franklin house fire on 120th Street under investigation

June 2, 2014

Franklin — A house fire that occurred Sunday, June 1, is still under investigation by the Franklin Fire Department.

The department received a call regarding a house fire on 120th Street at approximately 7 p.m. that evening.

Response time was slightly delayed because of stormy conditions, but firefighters were able to put out the fire at about 7:15 p.m., said Battalion Chief Paul Rynders.

"Most of the fire was in the attached garage," Rynders said. "It wasn't a total loss, and, with some renovation, the house can be habitable again."

Individuals were inside the home during the fire, and one was sent to the hospital, Rynders said, who could not disclose the condition of the injured person.

The cause of the fire was undetermined as of Monday, but Rynders did not rule out the Sunday night's storm.

"Lightning is pretty much an act of God," he said. "There's not much we can do to prevent strikes from happening. We just have to deal with what we're given."
