Schools ready for homecoming games with various activities

Sept. 22, 2009 | 0 comments

Two area schools will kick off a festive tradition with homecoming activities this week, followed by other schools the following week.

Greendale and Franklin high schools are first-up, with dress-up days and pep rallies, in addition to the parades and football games to close out September, while Whitnall and Oak Creek high schools finalize plans for their early October festivities.

Greendale

Greendale's parade will begin at 4 p.m. Friday at the high school, proceed down Broad Street toward Village Hall and come back to the high school.

A post-parade cookout sponsored by the Athletic Booster Club will be held from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. in the cafeteria of the high school. Cookout tickets should be preordered online at greendaleboosterclub.org.

The football game against South Milwaukee will kick off at 7 p.m. in Gavinski Stadium.

Franklin

The parade in Franklin begins at 6 p.m. today near 51st Street and Hunting Park Drive to the high school football field.

A community pep rally and powder puff championship game follow the parade. New this year is an 8:30 p.m. bonfire after the powder puff game on the baseball field.

An all-school pep rally will be held Friday afternoon before Franklin takes on Oak Creek at 7 p.m.
