Franklin Police Report: Aug. 14, 2014 issue

Aug. 12, 2014

Theft

1 An unidentified male and female shoplifted 15 packs of cigarettes at Walmart, 6701 S. 27th St., at about 11:30 p.m. Aug. 2. According to the employee, the male went behind a register and stole the cigarettes while the female attempted to purchase a carton of cigarettes with two different debit cards, which were declined. The two then fled in a maroon minivan.

2 A 50-year-old Wyoming man was arrested for shoplifting $100 worth of merchandise at Menards, 10925 W. Speedway Drive, at about 5:40 p.m. Aug. 5.

3 A plastic bin containing 15 $20 scratch-off lottery tickets was stolen at 7-Eleven, 7610 W. Rawson Ave., sometime between 10:30 p.m. Aug. 6 and 2 p.m. Aug. 7.

4 A 24-year-old Milwaukee woman was arrested for shoplifting (fourth offense), battery and resisting/obstructing an officer after she stole $219 worth of girl's socks and underwear at Walmart, 6701 S. 27th St., assaulted a security employee who tried to detain her and then resisted arrest at about 12:40 p.m. Aug. 7. She also had three valid commitments through the Greenfield, Brown Deer and Glendale police departments for shoplifting and operating after suspension.

5 A resident in the 4000 block of West Southwood Drive reported Aug. 7 that someone he hired to paint his home in July entered their home and stole jewelry belonging to his wife. The resident also stated that some the stolen jewelry was recovered by the Greenfield Police Department.

6 A 29-year-old South Milwaukee woman was arrested for shoplifting six cans of baby formula and possession of drug paraphernalia at Pick N Save, 7780 S. Lovers Lane Road, at about 6:30 p.m. Aug. 7.

7 A black Triton tilt tandem covered trailer containing a 1988 Yamaha Exciter snowmobile was stolen while parked in the common parking lot area of a condominium complex in the 7700 block of South Tuckaway Shores Drive sometime between July 1 and Aug. 8.

8 A red cell phone case containing a driver's license, several credit cards and cash was stolen after it was set on the floor by the free weight area at Planet Fitness, 6529 S. 27th St., at about 10:45 a.m. Aug. 9.

9 A 28-year-old South Milwaukee woman was arrested for shoplifting and trespassing after she attempted to steal $220 worth of toys, clothing and household goods at Walmart, 6701 S. 27th St., at about 3:15 p.m. Aug. 9. She was also taken into custody for a probation violation.

10 An unidentified male shoplifted a Samsung Sound Bar, valued at $150, and other merchandise at Walmart, 6701 S. 27th St., at about 3 a.m. Aug. 11. The suspect, described as a 6-foot, 4-inch-tall black male weighing about 230 pounds and wearing a blue T-shirt, olive green pants and a green, white and black fishing hat, exited a fire door in the Garden Center with the stolen merchandise, left the cart near a bus stop, returned in a blue Ford Explorer and loaded the items into the vehicle and was last seen driving southbound on South 27th Street.

Drug possession

11 A 33-year-old Milwaukee man was arrested for possession of marijuana during a traffic stop in the 7400 block of South 27th Street at about 12:45 a.m. Aug. 6.

12 A 57-year-old Milwaukee man was arrested for possession of drug paraphernalia and was taken into custody for having a warrant with the Milwaukee County Sheriff's Department for battery/domestic violence at the Park Motel, 7273 S. 27th St., at about 6:45 a.m. Aug. 7.

Drunken driving

13 A 32-year-old Franklin man was arrested for drunken driving (second offense) in the 6500 block of West Rawson Avenue at about 3 a.m. Aug. 8. A chemical breath test indicated a blood alcohol content of 0.20.

14 A 25-year-old Franklin man was arrested for drunken driving after a motorist reported he nearly ran a red light and almost struck the caller's minivan at Southbrook Church, 7633 S. 70th St., at about 5:30 p.m. Aug. 8. A chemical breath test indicated a BAC of 0.32.

Vandalism

15 A resident in the 7500 block of South 75th Street reported her van was keyed while parked in her driveway at 6:50 p.m. Aug. 6.

Other

16 Several condominium residents in the 7100 block of West Rawson Avenue reported they were yelled and sworn at by another resident, a 62-year-old man, at about 12:50 p.m. Aug. 7. After interviewing, officers determined the argument started over the placement of several bird feeders. No one was cited, but everyone was advised about their conduct.

17 A 56-year-old man was arrested for disorderly conduct after he got in an argument with another customer at Walmart, 6701 S. 27th St., and then began yelling at and threatening security employees and other customers at about 8 p.m. Aug. 7. His preliminary BAC was 0.24.

18 Officers responding to a report of an underage drinking party in the 8100 block of South Chapel Hill Drive made numerous arrests for possession of marijuana, disorderly conduct, obstructing, reckless driving and underage drinking between 1:30 a.m. and 2:30 a.m. Aug. 10. The party, which was advertised on social media, drew more than 50 underage people to the residence, who all scattered when police arrived.
