Nicole Bryan Barnes and Adam Christian Karny were married March 20, 2010, at Eagle River Church of God in Eagle River, Alaska.
Parents of the bride are Troy and Carol Cozzen of Valdez, Alaska, and Dan and Tamatha Sherbahn of Eagle River. Grandparents of the bride are Jerry and Marjorie of New Mexico. Parents of the groom are Mark Karny of Oconomowoc and Vince and Kristie Milne of Greendale. Grandparents of the groom are David and Elaine Krisel of Greendale.
The Rev. Bobby Jones officiated the 2 p.m. ceremony, which was followed by a reception at the church.
The bride wore a two-tone beige, satin gown with sequins, pearls and lace, and a chapel-length train. She carried a bouquet of multi-colored roses.
Matron of honor was Maytay Cortez of Fort Richardson, Alaska, friend of the bride. Bridesmaids were Chyanne Cozzen of Anchorage, Alaska, and Mariah and Synette Trueblood, both of Eagle River.
Best man was David Jasinski of Fort Richardson, friend of the groom. Groomsmen were Raul Aguilar, Damien Humphrey and Charles Coburn, all of Fort Richardson.
Flower girls were Tiana and Madison Cozzen of Valdez, both nieces of the bride; Salina Morales of Anchorage, niece of the bride; and Marielli Cortez of Fort Richardson, daughter of the matron of honor.
The bride attended Highland Technical High School in Anchorage. She is a tax assistant for H&R Block in Anchorage.
The groom is a 2003 graduate of Greendale High School. He is a specialist in the U.S. Army, 56th Engineering Battalion, stationed at Fort Richardson.
The couple met a few months prior to the groom's deployment to Iraq in November 2008 at a barbeque in Fort Richardson. His tour in Iraq ended early due to suffering an injury from a diesel fuel explosion. The groom returned to Fort Richardson in August 2009. The couple was reunited and the bride nursed him back to health.
The couple became engaged on New Year's Eve 2009 in Milwaukee. A engagement party was held the following week at his parents' home in Greendale.
A summer honeymoon to New Mexico for two weeks is planned for July 2010.
The couple resides in Eagle River.
