Mary A. Maxwell died Aug. 1, 2009, at age 71.

Mary was born in Darlington on Nov. 17, 1937, to Francis W. and Anna E. (nee McWilliams) Poppa. She married James P. Maxwell on Feb. 2, 1958, in Madison.

She is survived by her sons, Michael (Beth) Maxwell and Timothy (Beth) Maxwell; grandchildren, Zachary (Amy), Aimee (Greg), James and Dylan; great-grandchildren, Brayden and Emily; brothers, Francis (Judith) Poppa and Thomas Poppa; sisters, Elizabeth (Richard) Beale, Patricia Dayton Strand and Susan (Ronald) Walz; other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband, James; parents, Francis and Anna; and son, Patrick J. Maxwell.

Service was Aug. 3 at St. Matthew's Church, Oak Creek. Inurnment was at Mt. Olivet Cemetery.

Purath-Strand Funeral Home & Crematory handled the arrangements.
