Jennifer is a one in a million stay-at-home mom. (More like one OF a million stay at home moms!) She graduated from a liberal arts college but there is nothing liberal OR artsy about her. She is married to Kevin Fischer of This Just In, and together they have a beautiful young daughter Kyla Audrey. In no particular order she loves dogs, wine, a good bargain, her family, pizza, and entertaining. Follow her blog of all things miscellaneous including but not limited to cooking and baking, entertaining and party planning, being a mommy, and homekeeping.
I’m not a big sports fan, but I love my Notre Dame football and Notre Dame basketball (men and women) and the Green Bay Packers.
The Packer game was definitely on today at our house and at some point one of the announcers talked about the San Francisco head coach’s mother and breast cancer.
The point he made was amazing, and true.
Remember those with breast cancer, October, and every month.
From Kayla’s Krew Facebook page:
WOW!! What an exciting week we had!
As we finally start to get back into our daily routines we need to pause for a moment to reflect on what we accomplished this month. We built a playground! Not just any playground but a place where children and adults of all capabilities can come together and have fun. As the work was progressing last week we heard so many wonderful compliments and comments from people passing by as well as our many volunteers. The comments were "This is so cool!", "I can't wait to see the kids when they finally get to play.", "This is the best thing that has happened to this community.", "It's heartwarming to see so many people come out to help.", and many more like that.
As the Kayla's Krew Board, we need to express our deep gratitude for each and every one of the volunteers who gave of their time to help build Kayla's Playground. We are humbled by the outpouring of love and support that we witnessed last week and during the pre-build at the beginning of the month. There were volunteers who came for their shift and returned multiple times. Many stopped by to drop off food, beverages, and other donations. Whether you were a skilled or unskilled volunteer you came and left your mark on the playground and we are forever grateful.
A simple Thank You! does not seem adequate for all of the sweat, love, tears, hard work (and even a little blood!) that went into building Kayla's Playground. Know that your dedication to this project will be enjoyed for generations to come by those facing life challenges as well as those who love them. Children who could only watch from the edge of a playground can now be in the middle of the fun with their friends. Parents and grandparents with challenges can now come and enjoy a park with their children and grandchildren and you helped to facilitate it. Teachers and caregivers now have a place to bring their students and friends for therapy in a fun/safe setting and you were a part of it.
The Kayla's Krew Board would like to invite each of you to the ribbon cutting for Kayla's Playground on Friday October 9th at 5:30pm. Once again we will offer shuttle service from the Milwaukee County Sports Complex (6000 W. Ryan Rd. Franklin) to the playground. Continuous service will run from 4:30pm - 9:00pm. Come and see the joy that your work brings to the faces of the children and their parents. Let's hear the screams of delight as everyone plays together. This truly was a community build project that built a community.
From the bottom of our hearts....Thank you.
