Ms. Elaine Kneeous

Jennifer is a one in a million stay-at-home mom. (More like one OF a million stay at home moms!) She graduated from a liberal arts college but there is nothing liberal OR artsy about her. She is married to Kevin Fischer of This Just In, and together they have a beautiful young daughter Kyla Audrey. In no particular order she loves dogs, wine, a good bargain, her family, pizza, and entertaining. Follow her blog of all things miscellaneous including but not limited to cooking and baking, entertaining and party planning, being a mommy, and homekeeping.

WARNING: Do Not Wash Your Windows!

That old saying about “once you wash your windows, you’ll see that the curtains are dirty” is too true for my tastes today.

Did I Ever Tell You About The Time I Danced With...

Until Kyla came along, Kevin & I always attended the Badger Band concert at Oak Creek High School.  (It’s a tad too noisy for her young years but hopefully by next year it will be a family tradition again.)  It’s a rehearsal of sorts for their spring concert at the Kohl Center in Madison.  The concert is usually just before Valentine’s Day so it’s a sea of red as tribute to Bucky but also seasonally appropriate.

There's An App For That

Kyla's Korner

Our first family vacation to Walt Disney World in November 2011 was a complete success for many reasons.  Mostly it was a success because Kevin and I were both PRESENT in the trip, enjoying every smile, giggle, and request to “go on another adventure” from our precious daughter Kyla.

I love studies and research that tell you the obvious.  You know, when you read an article that is supposed to enlighten you to the fact that “People who eat fast food every day and don’t get regular exercise are more likely to have high blood pressure, heart disease, and be overweight.”  Someone actually gave grant money to some bozo to state the incredibly obvious.

If I Want Drama, I'll Watch Daytime T.V.

Social media is an incredible presence in our culture.  It can reunite lost loves, rescue animals, and rally the troops.  In my quiet, domestic and relatively normal life, Facebook has merely given me a chance to keep up with friends, reconnect with family and show off Kyla’s latest photos.

UPDATE: If I Want Drama, I'll Watch Daytime T.V.

The other day I posted a blog about Facebook Drama.  Today, in my inbox, there was an email from the website Real Simple.  (I get all kinds of great updates from them.)  Apparently I’m not the only one irritated by certain Facebook behaviors.

Who Knew? Toddlers Need To Nap

Last week I shared amazing and shocking results of a study done at the University of Virginia.  You know, the one where it took a group of people with degrees coming out of their ears to realize that kids who watch fast-paced cartoons have worse concentration skills.  Well, if I can’t get a research job there, perhaps the brainiacs at the University of ColoradoBoulder will take me.

I'm Proud To Be Considered Plus-Sized

I’d bet the farm that every woman reading this blog thinks she should lose 10 pounds.  Even my niece Kari, who I’d say is as close to perfect as a young woman can get, thinks she needs to shed a few.  This time of year many people are still in their “resolution mode;” working out more and making healthier eating choices.  (Ironic that the Girl Scouts are selling their cookies now, isn’t it?)

Happy Birthday, Kari Fischer!

No, I didn’t spell her name wrong, and I don’t mean an actress who is most famous for a terrible hair do.  I mean Happy Birthday to my often-mentioned-in-this-blog niece.

Flour + Yeast = Nirvana

On more than one occasion I have blogged about how I enjoy easy-to-make bread recipes.  One of my all-time favorites is from Real Mom Kitchen, a focaccia bread that never fails to disappoint.  I love this bread because it is low-maintenance and requires no kneading.  I need bread recipes like my cameras:  idiot-proof and totally automatic.

Does Taking Your Child To Disney World Make You A Better Parent?

I submit that it does indeed.

"Congratulations, Mr. and Mrs. Fischer. You have a beautiful, healthy baby CHILD."

Kyla's Korner

When Kevin & I found out we were going to be parents, we decided we would not find out the gender of our baby.  The only problem that posed was there are very few gender-neutral outfits available these days since most parents find out as soon as they can.  We both love surprises and felt that this was the biggest and best surprise we could ever give one another.
