Kyla's Korner- Musings of a Mother (07/22/10)
Kyla’s first birthday soiree was almost four months ago. We had over forty guests at our open house and I must say it was a complete success. The princess theme carried through from the decorations to the food to the favors. The guest of honor had a fabulous time but she did need to take a nap in the middle of the festivities!
She received so many wonderful gifts: beautiful outfits, fabulous toys, and amazing books. She is truly blessed AND spoiled. One of her favorite toys is a Fisher Price tea set. She quickly learned how to sip her tea, pour more, and eat tea cakes. It is very sweet to watch her play and pretend. But even more precious than that is how she immediately fell in love with one of her books: My Mommy and Me by Tina Macnaughton. She received it from one of her cousins who, by the way, is sweet and bubbly and charming so it really came as no surprise she gave it as a gift.

When she first got the book, I would read it to her before bed or before naps. Now SHE is in control of when the book is read, which at times seems like once an hour! She will grab it and bring it to me several times a day and never tires of it. She continues to kiss the last page, and I continue to melt every time she does. It is such an incredible moment that I will always remember, and will enjoy telling her about it when she is older. I am so touched that our little girl is this sensitive and loving at such a young age. What more could a Mommy ask for?
