Time running out on Drexel Interchange

The Daily Reporter is reporting that the state Department of Transportation is sticking to its Saturday deadline for the cities of Oak Creek and Franklin to each cough up $500,000 for a proposed Drexel Interchange. So far, Oak Creek city officials have voted to fund the project. Franklin has not.

Franklin mayor Tom Taylor suggests the state pick up the entire tab or that other municipalities like South Milwaukee pitch in.

Franklin alderman Tim Solomon is ready to appropriate the money. Some residents that turned out at last night’s special Common Council meeting are not.

The city of Franklin Common Council, if it’s going to meet again before Saturday, needs to give ample notice.

If the state doesn’t budge, it looks like this project is dead.
