TODAY: Afternoon showers. High of 66. "B"
SUNDAY: Mostly sunny. High of 61. "B"
Here’s my lovely wife, Jennifer with this week’s main blog.
And let me warn you……..
Jennifer’s pretty passionate this week. Jennifer....
I think everyone who has read Kyla’s Korner or The Barking Lot even once knows that I am passionate both about babies and dogs. Before Kyla was born, I really had no concept of how much I could love our baby. There is nothing in this world that can prepare you for the overwhelming, fierce love for your little offspring.
So, when we do finally get a dog for me… uh, for Kyla… you can know that everything will be done to ensure it will be a safe baby-dog match. While we won’t decide the breed (or mix thereof) until it is time to adopt, I can most certainly guarantee it won’t be a pit bull from Michael Vick’s lineage. And it sure as heck won’t be a wolf-hybrid, either!
Kyla was about four months old when the story of A.J. Smith broke. I’m sure you recall the horrible details of the poor baby’s ordeal. I truly can’t imagine the horror that his parents experienced.
Needless to say I am shocked, appalled and (almost) speechless that the Parents of the Year nominees are writing a book about what happened. The beginning of the long-winded title says it all. Or does it? “Could It Happen To You?...”
Uh, no, Mr. Smith, it couldn’t. Because I would have enough brains to not have a wolf-dog in the same house with an infant and other children. Are you REALLY that dumb?
The Smith family wants to clear up any notion that they are “bad parents.” HUH????!!!! I would perhaps grant them the fact that they made a ridiculous and almost unforgivable mistake in having the dog in the house with the newborn, and not having security measures in place because A.J. was delivered early. (How do you NOT have a baby monitor less than three weeks before your baby is due? I had ours three MONTHS before Kyla came in to this world.) But back to the notion that they are “bad parents.” THEY TRIED TO KEEP THE FREAKING WOLF DOG AND HIS WIFE WAS “TORMENTED WITH THE PROCESS OF GIVING HER UP.” Oh are you even KIDDING me????!!!! I swear to God if our future dog so much as looks at Kyla cross-eyed that mutt will go flying in to next week, never to be seen again on Fischer property.
I could almost live with the fact that Mr. Smith wrote this ridiculous book IF all the proceeds were donated to some sort of medical fund for kids who were attacked by dogs. If such fund does not exist, create one, Mr. Smith. Show the world that you really AREN’T all that bad and that you really DO care for children, yours and others. I won’t hold my breath waiting for that to happen, though. Blue isn’t my color.
