THE WEEKEND DOG-WALKING FORECAST: We grade the weather outlook for taking your pet outdoors.

TODAY:  Showers. High of 55.  "D"

SUNDAY:  Partly Cloudy. High of 67. "B"

Here’s my lovely wife, Jennifer with this week’s main blog:

Imagine running to your local dog-and-cat-supply store for a bag of kibble.  Do you expect that there would be a warning sign posted at the front door that shopping there may be hazardous to your health and that you are shopping at your own risk?

Well, a person with common sense probably wouldn’t expect it.

But…  Now imagine in the process of running your errand that you slip on some doggy doo, NOT from your doggy, and you fall and injure yourself, exacerbating a pre-existing back condition and ruining some dental work when you konk your head.

Naturally your first reaction is “I’m going to sue.”  Why not?  In our litigious society it’s what most people think of first.

I’m sorry, if you shop in a store that welcomes pets, you know the risks of possible accidents and droppings.  I also find it difficult to believe that you wouldn’t see the mess as you are walking around.

But what do I know?  Apparently it’s pretty easy to sue PetSmart.  According to Robert Holloway’s attorney, Michael Goodove, "That's the problem - you can bring your pet on the premises," Goodove said. "But that requires a higher level of diligence. You've got a duty to remove dangerous substances."

DANGEROUS SUBSTANCES????  HUH?????  I have never equated doggy doo with anything a Hazmat team has to take care of.  Goodness, now we can’t shop in a store that welcomes pets and has “oops” stations to clean up after them without slipping in a mess and SUING?

Unreal.

Thanks, Jennifer.

Time now for DOGS IN THE NEWS.

(Go on, Kev. Do it. You haven’t done it in awhile. And you know how it drives certain unhinged people out of their minds. Do it!)

Should I?

Yes!

Definitely!

OK.

Time now for DOGS IN THE NEWS: Canines……..that made headline the previous week.

(Yeh, you’re right. That did feel good!)
