WALKER SUPPORTS MUNICIPALITIES ON SEXUALLY VIOLENT PREDATOR ISSUE

MILWAUKEE – County Executive Scott Walker supports the side of local municipalities to decide on the placement of sexually violent predators in their communities. The Wisconsin State Legislature is taking up 2009 Senate Bill 548 and 2009 Assembly Bill 759 that would nullify sex offender residency restrictions and child safety zone ordinances that local municipality’s have put in place and prohibit municipalities from creating new restrictions.

“The state should not override the concerns of the individual municipalities in Milwaukee County or elsewhere in Wisconsin,” Walker said. “Passage of this bill intrudes on the ability of cities and villages to decide what is best for their community.”
