This Just In ...
Kevin Fischer is a veteran broadcaster, the recipient of over 150 major journalism awards from the Milwaukee Press Club, the Wisconsin Associated Press, the Northwest Broadcast News Association, the Wisconsin Bar Association, and others. He has been seen and heard on Milwaukee TV and radio stations for over three decades. A longtime aide to state Senate Republicans in the Wisconsin Legislature, Kevin can be seen offering his views on the news on the public affairs program, "InterCHANGE," on Milwaukee Public Television Channel 10, and heard filling in on Newstalk 1130 WISN. He lives with his wife, Jennifer, and their lovely baby daughter, Kyla Audrey, in Franklin.
DAYLIGHT SAVINGS CAN KILL YOU!! THE STORY TONIGHT AT 10:00!!!
When I was working in the news media 24/7 and at one time wore the many hats (unprecedented at the time, totally misunderstood by former MJS media critic and aging hippie Tim Cuprisin) of news manager, news reporter, news anchor, radio and TV commentator and pundit and talk show host, WHEW!, whenever called upon to issue an opinion, my philosophy then as it is now was to be able to back it up. You can’t just go on the air and proclaim that so and so is a yahoo. You can if you have the goods that so and so is a yahoo.
Thus, yours truly was fully capable of anchoring an unbiased newscast during Charlie Sykes’ radio program, and then sliding into the pundit chair during his weekly Week in Review radio program on Fridays from 11-12 noon (now gone). Cuprisin just couldn’t quite understand how this was possible, though I’m sure the light bulb would have gone on if I was a flaming lib.
But this isn’t about my diversified media role (that seems to bug the crap out of Milwaukee Magazine and liberal bloggers and one supposedly, now former muckraking blogger who claimed she was conservative but is really about as conservative as George McGovern).
No, no, no! It’s about daylight savings time, that annual ritual when we move the clocks forward so we can enjoy more daylight and grill brats until 9:00.
I LOVE daylight savings time.
Now there I go again, issuing an opinion. According to liberals and one

Jim Wigderson (Duhhh, I thought legislative staffers weren't allowed to blog???!!!)
I have no business possessing thoughts of my own because I’m just a lowly state employee, a lowly legislative aide, a lowly state Senate employee. And I get to go on radio and TV??? OH MY GOD, THE INJUSTICE!
My First Amendment rights apparently were surrendered when I decided to work for the people.
(KF’s conscience: Uhh, Kev, even though, as always you are rock solid on target that drives the left out of their minds, you need to get back on topic).
You need to deliver on your printed or spoken word promises. That has been my belief for years as I juggled those hats I previously mentioned.
So, I’m very skeptical that as we change our clocks tonight, people won’t die or immediately fall into financial ruin as CBS News is reporting.
I don’t doubt their numbers that more people keel over and lose their money shortly after the clocks are set forward. But I have a noodle and it tells me it’s not because the sun sets an hour later but because of other factors like, my time was up or I simply made bad investments.
Despite CBS’ panic alert, I welcome DST. Bring on global warming and longer days and shorter nights.
And since we’re talking about clocks, the most important measuring device that matters most of all……......

Kevin - Please stop fighting with Mr. Wigderson and ghost write Mary Lazich's annual tirade/constituent scolding about DANGEROUS March Madness.

Well, that would be the award-winning opinion pages of the Waukesha Freeman to you, Kevin. I also write at the MacIver Institute and my own site, Wigderson Library & Pub, recognized by the Washington Post as one of the best blogs covering state politics in the country. Why I haven't been named by People Magazine as the Sexiest Man Alive is still a mystery, but with your support I'm sure they'll pick me next year.

You forgot to mention that I like to suck up to liberals, put cheddar cheese on my tuna salad sandwich, and dip my french fries in tartar sauce.

I've never met the guy.
But he's taken potshots at me since I started blogging under the erroneous belief that legislative staffers were banned from blogging. He also wrote that he just couldn't understand why I am allowed to do radio and TV. And that is key. He just doesn't understand.
He can't dish it out then play the innocent, self-deprecating game when I tease him a bit.
I also suggest you go back and read Senator Lazich's pieces where she admits most March Madness aficionados can gamble without any trouble and have fun doing so.
Those who can't have all sorts of misery, and that costs all of us.
Finally, the smart bet is on Kentucky. Best talent and best coach in the tournament.

In the meantime, my $$'s on Syracuse.

Perhaps you could explain just why you left such a high profile job a WTMJ.

As for flag burning, I don't like flag burning. But I absolutely love (love it!) the First Amendment that allows people to burn the flag in protest if they choose to be so stupid.
But hey, you love the First Amendment so much, you're willing to use it to misstate my position on your status as a media superstar. But let's not rehash that here. I'm sure your readers would love to hop over to www.wigderson.com and see for themselves what I wrote about you.
As for how I ended up here reading what you wrote, well, someone e-mailed me the link.
Have a Happy St. Patrick's Day Kevin, and maybe I'll see you at St. Anthony's sometime when the Lovely Doreen from Waukesha wants to hear Lee Erickson conduct the chorus again. Always a treat.

Oh, and you forgot to mention how much you like flag burning.
I'm surprised you would even read my blog since you once decreed I shouldn't be blogging, or be on radio, or be on TV. I guess those media managers that have signed me up just aren't as smart as say, the people who run that bastion of outstanding journalism, the Waukesha Freeman.
If my writing is just too cool and creative for you to understand, Jim, then there's nothing I can say to help you.

What was the point of this rant again, other to demonstrate you're just jealous of my good looks? If you want, I can send you a large poster of me, autographed.
