Think Obamacare is Dead?  Well, Think Again!

As we reported on our blog last week, the Obamacare train is not stopped, it is just idling on the tracks. The National Right to Life Committee agrees with that assessment and is urging everyone to participate in a nationwide e-lobbying campaign. According to NRLC, Democratic leaders, despite all of the grim polls and election results, continue to meet behind closed doors to hammer out a bill they will push through both houses of Congress. It may be a watered down version of what passed both Houses passed but no one expects it to be pro-life.

So, even after last week's stunning political fallout, we still must worry about Obamacare being foisted on the American public on the backs of the lives of unborn babies and older people.

You may have contacted your Senators and Representative already or even several times.  But even if you have, please help NRLC reach its goal of 250,000 contacts with Congress starting right now by clicking here. Urge them to vote NO on any version of Obamacare.

Three Pro-Abortion Wisconsin House Members Looking Vulnerable in 2010

In 2010, all eight of Wisconsin's U.S. House of Representatives members are facing re-election.   Three of them are viewed as vulnerable and they are all pro-abortion!  They are Steve Kagen (8th CD), David Obey (7th CD), and Ron Kind (3rd CD).

It's too early to predict what will happen in these seats but Wisconsin Right to Life is watching these races closely.

Pro-Abortion Representative Steve Kagen was elected in 2006 to represent the 8th Congressional District.   Kagen has a 0% voting record on right-to-life issues.  Whether the vote was on the Stupak-Pitts Amendment to prohibit federal funding of abortion in a public health care plan, the public funding of elective abortions in the District of Columbia or providing federal funding to Planned Parenthood, Kagen voted lock-step with the radical pro-abortion lobby.   In the 2007-08 congressional session, Kagen's voting record on right-to-life issues was 0% and among his anti-life votes was a vote against a ban on human cloning.  Kagen's complete voting record can be found at the website of the National Right to Life Committee at nrlc.org

Pro-Abortion Representative Ron Kind was elected in 1996 to represent the 3rd Congressional District.  Thus far in the 2009-10 congressional session, Kind has a 0% voting record on right to life issues and voted against the Stupak-Pitts Amendment, voted for public funding of elective abortions in the District of Columbia and voted for providing federal funding to Planned Parenthood.  In the 2007-08 congressional session, Kind voted against a ban on human cloning and had a 0% voting record on right-to-life issues.  Kind's complete  congressional voting record can be found at the website of the National Right to Life Committee at nrlc.org

Pro-Abortion Representative David Obey was elected in a 1969 special election to represent the 7th Congressional District.  Thus far in the 2009-10 congressional session, Obey voted in favor of public funding of elective abortions in the District of Columbia and voted to provide federal funding to Planned Parenthood.  In the 2007-08 congressional session, Obey had a 0% voting record on right-to-life issues.  Among his anti-life votes was his vote against a ban on human cloning.  Obey's voting record from several past legislative sessions can be found at the website of the National Right to Life Committee at nrlc.org

When our complete assessment of the various candidates is complete, we will provide you with that information here in our Monday News You Can Use and through other means closer to the 2010 election.

Action Needed - Committee Vote This Wednesday On AB 458 and SB 324

This Wednesday, January 27, the State Senate Education Committee will be voting on AB 458 and SB 324.  Wisconsin Right to Life opposes this legislation because it would result in schools no longer having the option of offering an abstinence-only approach in their Human Growth and Development curriculum.  Instead, schools would be able to include information about abstinence, but they would be required to teach students about an array of "options" that could endanger their health and result in increased numbers of teen pregnancies and teen abortions.  This legislation is not in the best interests of students!

The State Assembly has already passed AB 458.

You can email the members of the Senate Education Committee in opposition to the legislation by going to:
