Kevin Fischer is a veteran broadcaster, the recipient of over 150 major journalism awards from the Milwaukee Press Club, the Wisconsin Associated Press, the Northwest Broadcast News Association, the Wisconsin Bar Association, and others. He has been seen and heard on Milwaukee TV and radio stations for over three decades. Important busing meeting for Franklin parents
The Franklin School Board recently voted to eliminate busing for private school students attending Saint Martin of Tours, St. Paul Lutheran and Hales Corners Lutheran schools.
Rookie board member Janet Evans wrote in her July 8th blog ripping a FranklinNOW reporter:
“The element of the approved Franklin Public Schools budget draft regarding private school bussing will save you, the taxpayer, $90,000 in School Year 2009-10. “
Forgive me but I’m not impressed by that bit of bragging. Not when the same school board plans to increase spending by $1.14 million dollars while at the same time cry about how tough times are (Translation: We really hate to do this, folks, but we’re going to have to increase taxes).
Please don’t insult the taxpayers’ intelligence when you’re cutting $90,000 on one item but increasing total spending by over $1 million.
The Franklin School Board priorities are messed up. They are telling us a nearly $1 million fiber optic purchase is essential, but we can’t bus certain kids to school because, you know, they go to those….private schools.
