This Just In ...

Kevin Fischer is a veteran broadcaster, the recipient of over 150 major journalism awards from the Milwaukee Press Club, the Wisconsin Associated Press, the Northwest Broadcast News Association, the Wisconsin Bar Association, and others. He has been seen and heard on Milwaukee TV and radio stations for over three decades. A longtime aide to state Senate Republicans in the Wisconsin Legislature, Kevin can be seen offering his views on the news on the public affairs program, "InterCHANGE," on Milwaukee Public Television Channel 10, and heard filling in on Newstalk 1130 WISN. He lives with his wife, Jennifer, and their lovely young daughter, Kyla Audrey, in Franklin.

West Allis blogger tells Franklin (and rightly so) to wake up!

Oh, man this is good.

Over on WestAllisNOW, Michael James, a fine, upstanding citizen gives the other fine, upstanding citizens in Franklin and Oak Creek some great advice.  He warns that we're about to be steamrollered.....with roundabouts.

James has cut through all the brochures and pamphlets and spin from the crowd that wants fewer cars on the roads. I've seen it and heard it all, too, having sat in more than one meeting with Department of Transportation folks who worship at the altar of roundabouts. Yada, yada, yada.

Amidst all the roundabout PR, James raises his hand and says, "Excuse me, but, really, is all this really necessary?"

Amen, brother Michael!

To my knowledge, there isn't a groundswell of support from people demanding an avalanche of roundabouts. And yet, they're being shoved down our throats, not just one or two, but tons of those suckers!

The pro-roundabout bunch says if you oppose them, you're just afraid (of change) or just too stupid. How analytically clever.

And here's my favorite: Well, gee, they work just fine in places like Brussels.

Yeh, and I think they've got light rail in Portland, too, but I don't that anywhere near here.

Michael James has touched a nerve. Hey, Michael, I'm awake. I don't want a roundabout every few blocks on ultra-busy S. 27th Street. Can you imagine the accidents and the traffic backups?
