This Just In ...

Kevin Fischer is a veteran broadcaster, the recipient of over 150 major journalism awards from the Milwaukee Press Club, the Wisconsin Associated Press, the Northwest Broadcast News Association, the Wisconsin Bar Association, and others. He has been seen and heard on Milwaukee TV and radio stations for over three decades. A longtime aide to state Senate Republicans in the Wisconsin Legislature, Kevin can be seen offering his views on the news on the public affairs program, "InterCHANGE," on Milwaukee Public Television Channel 10, and heard filling in on Newstalk 1130 WISN. He lives with his wife, Jennifer, and their lovely baby daughter, Kyla Audrey, in Franklin.

Culinary no-no's

When I learned a former Wisconsinite had opened a gourmet grilled cheese place in Denver, I thought the concept would be ideal for America's Dairyland. Sure enough, the Cheesy Grill opened near Miller park.

Unfortunately, the economy has struck another local restaurant.

That's too bad. The Cheesy Grill was a very nice place. Best of luck to the O'Hare's.

And so I say again, that whole grilled cheese deal.......it's a natural for these parts. Someone's got to market it, don't they?

Wisconsin Cheese Highlight- Asiago

Asiago derives its name from a small town in northern Italy. In Italy, Asiago usually means Asiago Fresco (fresh), which has a mild flavor and semi-hard texture. In Wisconsin, cheesemakers age Asiago to develop sharper flavors. It resembles a cross between sharp white Cheddar and Parmesan.Mild when young becoming sharp, buttery and nutty when aged.
