Please allow me to be brief

You ever notice when someone says they’re going to be brief, they never are? (State Senator Bob Jauch on the floor of the state Senate is a perfect example).

This morning, at our usual Mass marathon (Hey, guys, it’s not Christmas or Easter so can we lose the 90-minute Mass?) when I thought the merciful end was near (Sorry, God) , a member of the parish council, a good guy I might add, got up and walked to the lectern to say “Thank you for allowing me to briefly…….”

OH NO!

It then took him about ten minutes to briefly tell us about the need to contribute to the annual Catholic Stewardship Appeal fund drive.

You can lose a lot of generous souls in ten not so brief minutes when you’re putting the bite on people.
