Should there be a Miss America do-over?

Miss Indiana, Katie Stam was crowned the new Miss America on Saturday night.

I didn’t watch the show but she appears to be a lovely, charming, and I’m sure, very deserving recipient of the title. Here’s how she looked in the swimsuit competition:

OK.

OK.

OK !

I realize many of you, especially you camera buffs, were reading intently to see which photographer was credited with taking that amazing shot of the new Miss America, so you may not have totally captured all of the nuances and angles and special touches of that picture.

So here it is again:

Katie Stam in a swimsuit

Smiling under all those hot TV lights and pressure on her way to the Miss America crown.

But wait a minute.

Let's turn back the clock, shall we...

To the fall of 2007.

Miss England is another lovely gal by the name of Georgia Horsley....

So, we've got Katie Stam....

And Georgia Horsley....

 MSNBC reported in 2007:

"Most women would do just about anything to have a body like the one inhabited by Miss England Georgia Horsley, and Horsley herself is quite happy with it.

So it came as somewhat of a surprise to Horsley when she was advised that if she wanted a real shot of winning the Miss World title, she had better pack on a few pounds.

'I was a little bit shocked,' the 20-year-old size 4 told TODAY co-host Meredith Vieira during an interview Friday. 'Personally I don’t think I’m too fat. I don’t think I’m too thin. I’m happy with the way I am'."

So let me get this straight.

This is too thin....

But this is just right....

Seems to me that if there is any justice, and with all due respect to the Hoosier State, there needs to be a re-examination of the results of the Miss America Pageant.

I mean, just look at Katie Stam, wouldja?

She needs to pork up. And a lot.

She does that and she'll look like.....well, never mind.

This is no laughing matter.

Re-doing the entire Miss America Pageant?

Why, that would be crazy, right?

Silly.

Totally unnecessary.

I don't think so.

After all.....
