This Just In ...

Kevin Fischer is a veteran broadcaster, the recipient of over 150 major journalism awards from the Milwaukee Press Club, the Wisconsin Associated Press, the Northwest Broadcast News Association, the Wisconsin Bar Association, and others. He has been seen and heard on Milwaukee TV and radio stations for over three decades. A longtime aide to state Senate Republicans in the Wisconsin Legislature, Kevin can be seen offering his views on the news on the public affairs program, "InterCHANGE," on Milwaukee Public Television Channel 10, and heard filling in on Newstalk 1130 WISN. He lives with his wife, Jennifer, and their lovely young daughter, Kyla Audrey, in Franklin.

Family Free Day at the Milwaukee County Zoo

Pekin robinSee the Milwaukee County Zoo in a different light during the winter months. Take a walk in the brisk air and spot cold-weather animals like moose, polar bear, elk, caribou and snow leopards. To warm up, stroll through the Herb & Nada Mahler Family Aviary and watch the four Pekin robins on exhibit with the Luzon bleeding-heart dove in Tropic 6. You can also check out the red-billed hornbill chicks in the Kopje Exhibit.

Children will love walking through the Small Mammals Building and watching the playful antics of the Zoo's North American river otters, the Goeldi's monkeys, tamarins and nocturnal animals. And remember to check out the big cats in the Florence Mila Borchert Big Cat Country! The jaguar cubs are over a year old and bigger than Mom Stella now.

Before leaving, check out the Fantastic Forest of holiday trees in the U.S. Bank Gathering Place. The trees, donated by Hawks Landscape, and decorated by area youth groups, showcase iconic holiday characters and animal-themed ornaments. There is always something to see at the Milwaukee County Zoo!

Free admission for everyone on this day; Milwaukee County parking fee of $12 still applies.

Zoological Society members receive free Zoo admission every day with their Zoo Pass card and photo ID. Zoo Pass Plus members receive free parking for one vehicle per membership per day with their Zoo Pass Plus card and photo ID.
