Jennifer is a one in a million stay-at-home mom. (More like one OF a million stay at home moms!) She graduated from a liberal arts college but there is nothing liberal OR artsy about her. She is married to Kevin Fischer of This Just In, and together they have a beautiful young daughter Kyla Audrey. In no particular order she loves dogs, wine, a good bargain, her family, pizza, and entertaining. Follow her blog of all things miscellaneous including but not limited to cooking and baking, entertaining and party planning, being a mommy, and homekeeping.
OK so I’m not at THREE HUNDRED fifty Culinary blogs. My little Culinary Yes Yes can only celebrate FIFTY posts. Still, I’m proud that I’m following in my hubby’s footsteps. Who doesn’t love food, right? Well maybe that Gwyneth chick but I don’t count her for much anyhow. So this week in celebration of 49 previous posts, I want to celebrate all things Wisconsin.
I know Wisconsinites have a reputation that includes things like being overweight, wearing foam cheese wedges on our heads, and generally lacking a cosmopolitan sophistication. I can’t argue any of those points. But we’re incredibly friendly and helpful. Even if our Packers garb doesn’t give us away, when we travel elsewhere we’re easily identified because of our good nature and love of food. Oh, and brandy.
That brings me to the theme of celebrating our fine state. I’d like to offer my list of Top Ten Wisconsin food items. I’m guessing it’s probably not much different than a list you’d draft yourself. Like all delicious things, this post should be savored. Don’t skip a single link. By the time you’re done you’ll be drooling on your keyboard.
Cranberries – OK if there are any health-conscious readers of Ms. Elaine Kneeous you’ll be happy with this entry. It might be the only item on the list you’ll approve of. In any case, we’re proud to grow them and offer the juice in schools.
Kringle – The good folks at O&H Danish Bakery know how to do things right.
Brats – Yes, here on FranklinNOW.com the Fischers L-O-V-E to talk brats. After all, isn’t it the sausage that launched a thousand blogs? OK maybe not a thousand blogs. How ‘bout three hundred fifty no-no’s and fifty yes-yes’s?
Cheese, especially in curd form (natural OR deep-fried) – Our wonderful dairy farmers are blessed with skill, talent and awesome cows. Lucky us!
Cream Puffs – I know people who would trade their firstborn for a Wisconsin State Fair Cream Puff. While that might not be saying much for the kid, it DOES say quite a bit about the treat.
Fish Fry’s – You could spend your Friday evening arguing about where to go for the BEST Milwaukee fish fry. Or, you could trust the editors at OnMilwaukee.com.
Coffee – I simply couldn’t function in the morning without the heavenly brew. We make some great ones!
Brandy Old Fashioneds – I mentioned we love our brandy, right? We know how to make the signature Wisconsin cocktail, and we know how to craft brandy, too.
Beer – Clearly this is the top o’ the top. There are the “big guys” but the Fischers also like to support the local & micro-breweries. And let’s not forget how our friends the Leinenkugels are making a national name for themselves!
Whew! That’s quite the Top Ten, isn’t it? Thanks so much for reading Ms. Elaine Kneeous and Culinary Yes Yes. If you’d like to add to the list, please leave a comment!

Wow. It was incredibly easy to draft a list of 10 great Wisconsin food items. But researching ten times that many Wisconsin Food Facts? IMPRESSIVE.
