Goodnight everyone, and have a loving Mother's Day weekend!

“One of the greatest pieces of advice I’ve ever gotten in my life was from my mom. When I was a little kid there was a kid who was bugging me at school and she said 'Okay, I’m gonna tell you what to do. If the kid’s bugging you and puts his hands on you; you pick up the nearest rock'...”

It's Friday night. Time to unwind with our regular Friday night feature on This Just In.

The weekend has finally arrived.

The sun has set.

The evening sky has erupted.

Let's put controversy and provocative blogs aside for the rest of this work week and smooth our way into Saturday and Sunday.

It's Friday night. Time to unwind with our regular Friday night feature on This Just In.

This Sunday we celebrate Mom. Past Friday night music blogs before Mother’s Day have featured the classic songs for the day:

“Coat of Many Colors” by Dolly Parton

“One’s on the Way” by Lorretta Lynn

And the very best, “I.O. U.” by Jimmy Dean.

This year, some songs that don’t necessarily connect directly with Mother’s Day or come to mind, but in their own way relate.

Moms are amazing.

They are incredible.

You can’t see it, but they have an “S” on their chest.

In the early 70’s Maria Muldaur had a super smash hit with “Midnight at the Oasis.” One of her follow-ups fits tonight’s theme.

Next up...

The husband wife duo of Darryl Dragon, whose father’s claim to fame was classical music, and Toni Tennille, an effervescent female with a dazzling voice and personality.

Their first hit, “Love will Keep us Together” went to #1 and garnered a Grammy. A variety TV show and more hits followed.

Good grief, how many keyboards is the Captain playing? 20?

Music aficionados will know that Smokey Robinson and the Miracles did the original of "Shop Around."

OK, time for some fun. Prior to the rock era, the 50’s featured lots of vocal stylists and groups including the Ames Brothers. The star brother was Ed.

Have you ever seen this famous clip from the Johnny Carson show?

Pay very close attention to this next song. I remember from my young days as a little boy because my Dad would often listen on the family record player.

Time to get serious.  Many country stars put their talents to an album of their takes on Disney classics. Here’s
Alison Kraus.

We opened with Maria Muldaur and “I’m a Woman.” That, of course, is not to be confused with “I am Woman” by Helen Reddy.

She had a slew of hits. This one is from 1975.

That’s it for this week.

Goodnight.

Sleep well.

Be good to Mom. If Mom is gone, remember her in your thoughts and prayers.

One more. Again, we turn to the magic of Disney.
