While Congress is Home on Recess

Friends of the U.S. Chamber

We have an opportunity to make a difference this week while Congress is home on recess.

Right now, our lawmakers are in the midst of a historic legislative debate as both the House and Senate begin consideration of the critically important issue of immigration reform.

We're confident. The right steps are being taken to find a bipartisan solution that will work for our country. But with recess upon us, members of Congress are looking to you, their constituents, to weigh in on difficult issues like these while they are back in their communities.

Our broken immigration system is hurting America and holding our economy back. Over the last several months, here at the U.S. Chamber, we’ve been advocating for reform that will increase border security, make our country more competitive through visa reform and a workable employment verification system, and provide for a path forward for undocumented workers under tight criteria.

Unless we can fix the fractured system, it is going to become increasingly difficult for America to compete economically. Make no mistake, today we have de facto amnesty. The time for action is now.

The good news is that, just before recess, the Senate brought forward a proposal for real reform, rooted in a common sense approach.

The Border Security, Economic Opportunity, and Immigration Modernization Act (S. 744) has momentum. We are confident it will continue to progress over the next few weeks.

The last thing that we want is for partisanship and pure propaganda derail the immigration reform that America needs. We’ve seen it happen before.

It’s vital that your members of Congress hear from you now.

Click here to send a message to your Senators and tell them to commit to seriously addressing this issue when they return to the nation’s capitol.

We hope to send as many letters to lawmakers as possible during this recess period. I encourage you to forward this email to your friends and family, urging them to add their voice in support of real reform.

Join as we fight preserve the American dream that has made our country strong for generations.

Sincerely,
