Stand with Rand!

Stand with Rand and Say, "Thank You!"

Earlier today, Tea Party Patriots co-founder and National Coordinator, Jenny Beth Martin sent you a note to express gratitude for Senator Rand Paul's courageous 13 hour stand last night on the Senate floor. Now we want to give you the opportunity to not only Stand with Rand, but to say, "Thank You," as well.

When Senator Paul took to the Senate floor yesterday he announced that he was there to filibuster the nomination of John Brennan to the post of CIA director. He made it clear that it was not targeted at Brennan, but to pressure the President to clarify his policy on the use of drone strikes on American citizens.

"I will speak as long as it takes until the alarm is sounded from coast to coast that the Constitution is important."
- Senator Rand Paul, 3/6/13

On February 4, 2013, NBC News posted a story on documents that were released by the Justice Department that made what seemed to be a legal case for the President or a high-level official to authorize a drone attack on an American citizen on US soil for suspicions of terrorist activity, all without due process. Senator Paul has been raising this question for weeks and finally found his opportunity to pressure the White House into answering his questions.

Finally today, Senator Paul was able to claim victory when the Attorney General Eric Holder clarified their policy with a statement that read, "It has come to my attention that you have now asked an additional question: 'Does the President have the authority to use a weaponized drone to kill an American not engaged in combat on American soil.' The answer to that question is no."

Yesterday was a truly historic day for the Tea Party movement. The vast majority of tea party-minded Senators led by Senator Paul took to the floor for the purpose of defending the constitution. This was a proud moment for all of us in the liberty movement as we are constantly pushing for our representatives to show REAL leadership in Washington. Last night we saw just that in the Senate.

So, again we would like to thank Senator Paul and others for their courageous stand yesterday and we'd like to invite you to sign on to our Thank You note to Senator Paul. Once we collect all of the signatures, we will forward to Senator Paul to show our appreciation for fighting to defend our constitution.
