Not to worry. Nothing a spanking brand new multi-million dollar auditorium can’t fix.
A big weekend at the Fischer household
It was bound to happen. People have been asking me for the longest time.
When are you going to do it? When? When? When???
I finally broke down and the Fischer household has a new addition: a soft-coated
Why now? Because I’ve always wanted a dog and I’ve been doing a lot of research about breeds and timing of the purchase, especially when you have a toddler.
In the end, I think I was swayed by the immortal words of the famous pet author, Edgar Vetman who said, “Every home should have a dog, period. It would be un-American not to have a dog, or any other pet for that matter, when there are children. They want and need pets. If you have any doubt, get a pet. You’ll be glad you did.”
After I read that powerfully persuasive stuff, I gotta tell you, I was sold.
Jennifer wanted to hold off a bit longer until Kyla was older. I was insisting we get a dog and get one soon. Finally, I just took the puppy by the paws.
We’re so overjoyed and want to share our happiness that we’re thinking of having a “Come Meet Frisky”
Dogs. They’re so neat.

Could the weather people have been more wrong this weekend?
60 on Saturday, but cooler near the lake.
Low 70’s on Sunday.
Those were the predictions. Not even close.
Just once I’d like one of these guys to come on camera and say he’s sorry for totally messing up.

Culinary no-no #271
The biggest food controversy as of late swirls around the so-called “pink slime.”

It’s another clear example of a journalistic-created over-reaction resulting in hysteria and economic loss. Dan Gainor of Newsbusters.org writes:
“Some journalists aren’t content with covering the news; they have to make it, too. That’s been ABC’s strategy as the network has led the charge against USDA-approved beef. That agenda has put at least 600 jobs in jeopardy as the targeted company suspended operations in three separate plants.

Lenten math

What’s with this malarkey that Lent is 40 days long? (Sorry, God).
My brother broached the issue recently making what seemed to be the legitimate counter that Lent is not 40 days, that it’s actually longer.
Lent is bad enough but does it have to be even longer what we’ve been told in the Bible, in Catechism classes, by Catholic school teachers and priests at pulpit all our lives?
Holy fish sticks, the answer is yes.
Lent starts every Ash Wednesday and ends on Easter Sunday. This year, Ash Wednesday was on February 22. Easter is April 8.
So let’s do the math.
February 22-29 this year is 7 days. March has 31 days so 7 + 31 = 38. Eight more days until Easter = 46 days.
I repeat. Holy fish sticks! Lent should have been over on April 3, allowing me all kinds of meat at Opening Day on April 6.
There’s gotta be an explanation.
Here goes, but God, I better get extra blessings this year.
