Ms. Elaine Kneeous

Jennifer is a one in a million stay-at-home mom. (More like one OF a million stay at home moms!) She graduated from a liberal arts college but there is nothing liberal OR artsy about her. She is married to Kevin Fischer of This Just In, and together they have a beautiful young daughter Kyla Audrey. In no particular order she loves dogs, wine, a good bargain, her family, pizza, and entertaining. Follow her blog of all things miscellaneous including but not limited to cooking and baking, entertaining and party planning, being a mommy, and homekeeping.

Welcome to Ms. Elaine Kneeous!

Welcome to Miss Elaine Kneeous! I started this blog because there were so many times I thought, “If I had a blog, I would write about that…”  Kevin encouraged me to join FranklinNOW after I realized how much I enjoyed blogging on another site.

The name of my blog came from a discussion I had with Kevin.  As I was trying to think of a catchy title, he asked me what it’s going to be about.  I told him recipes & entertaining, mommy stuff, random thoughts… “Miscellaneous.”  And so, Ms. Elaine Kneeous came to be.

Summer Vs. Fall Battle 2011

Here we go again. It’s time for Kevin’s and my annual argument about the virtues (or lack thereof) of fall:

So... Read any good books lately?

My test of a good novel is dreading to begin the last chapter.  ~Thomas Helm

I credit my grandmother for instilling a love of reading in me at a very early age.  And I fondly remember my mom allowing me to order as many paperbacks as I wanted to from my grade school book clubs.  (I will admit there were times I ordered more than I needed just to get some silly free poster, but I read everything that was purchased.)

You'll FALL for these treats!

In my blog Mars VS. Venus, I discussed how, in my opinion and by my observations, men & women strongly differ in their love of seasons, specifically summer and autumn. In my home, while Kevin does not welcome the coming of fall, he does welcome some of the treats that have become staples for us when the weather turns chilly.

I also have a strong fondness for all things British. I fulfilled an item on my bucket list before I even HAD a bucket list, and that was a trip to England the summer I graduated from college. When I was introduced to this blog by my best friend (and travel partner to England) I fell in love instantly. I don’t consider myself a vintage housekeeper, so to speak. But Alison’s ideas are heavenly even to a “Yank” and I can’t wait to incorporate some of her ideas in the coming months.

Lists and Timelines and Binders - Oh My!

“Every vice is only an exaggeration of a necessary and virtuous function.” ~Ralph Waldo Emerson, Journals, 1836

MY vice? Planning. Parties & get-togethers of all sorts, trips & vacations, décor re-do’s, dinner menus, milestone celebrations, packing lists for any event… I LOVE to plan. I have lists and notepads and binders; my “favorites” menu on our computer is highly organized & categorized. (Just don’t look in my pantry or in any of our closets because you will never believe that I am organized OR categorized!)

Take My Husband... PLEASE!

My niece Kari is an amazing young woman. You’d get the Understatement of the Year award if you said she is beautiful. She has a body that any fashion model would envy. She is working towards an advanced degree. She is employed by a Fortune 100 company that has customers in 17countries, so international travel opportunities abound. She will be moving into a lovely new apartment in a couple of months. She is what Kevin calls “a total package.” Yes, she has it all.

Or does she?

When the Chips are Down

For years I have been on a quest to find “the one.”

No, not that “one.” I found him, and married him. You know, that other blogger on FranklinNOW.

Countdown to Christmas!

It’s a little disconcerting to think that we have less than three months until Christmas. I know there are lots of people out there (ahem, Kevin!) who like to wait until the very last minute to purchase and wrap. But for those of you who want to get a head-start on things let me offer a few suggestions.

It’s tough to give up a classic, but may I suggest skipping these this year? Oh, you can do SO much better!

Secrets to a long, happy marriage

As seen on Facebook:

An old woman was sipping on a glass of wine, while sitting on the patio with her husband, and she says, “I love you so much, I don’t know how I could ever live without you.”

How To Tell If She's Faking It

I will admit, for awhile I was a “Handbag Snob.” I would only let the straps of an authentic Coach handbag grace my shoulders. I worked hard for my money (sure you can start humming the Donna Summer tune if you’d like) and felt I deserved something nice to show for it.

Then more and more women started owning Coach bags, and then more and more women started buying imposter Coach bags and they just lost their appeal to me. Also, in my personal opinion they went from gorgeous leather and classic styles to something that looked like a rainbow threw up on them.
