Ms. Elaine Kneeous
Jennifer is a one in a million stay-at-home mom. (More like one OF a million stay at home moms!) She graduated from a liberal arts college but there is nothing liberal OR artsy about her. She is married to Kevin Fischer of This Just In, and together they have a beautiful toddler daughter Kyla Audrey. In no particular order she loves dogs, wine, a good bargain, her family, pizza, and entertaining. I'd like an order of good manners... to go
I realize that McDonald’s isn’t exactly haute cuisine. Sadly it’s often not even hot cuisine. Still it’s our one guilty weekend pleasure: a Saturday morning run to Mickey D’s for breakfast sandwiches.

One of our favorite family-friendly weekly stops is at Meyer’s Restaurant and Bar. Glance over their menu and you’ll see a strong German flair to many of their dishes. Sauerbraten as well as Bavarian veal cutlets appear on the regular dinner menu.
UPDATE: The best Christmas pin you'll ever wear
My pin & car magnet order arrived the other day and I am proudly displaying them!
A leg late, and 2.5 inches short
Ah yes. If I were only 5’6” and proficient in dancing ballet, tap, and jazz I could easily be part of an amazing holiday extravaganza. Alas, I’m 2.5 inches shy of the height requirement and three dance types shy of the talent requirement. The closest I’ll ever be to the legendary ladies is that I’ve seen this incredible performance twice:

Whenever I tell Kyla that I need to start dinner, bake cookies or make a treat for Daddy’s office her immediate response is, “Can I help?” There are times that, quite frankly, she can’t. Either the time constraints are too great or the recipes & techniques are too complicated. But there are other times when I make it a point to allow more prep time or to set aside one simple task (like dumping sugar in the bowl) just for her. Her little face lights up when I call to her, “Kyla, can you come help mommy make this?” It’s priceless.

I know, it’s a sacrilege. Born and raised in Wisconsin and I really don’t care for brandy at all. I have never in my life ordered an Old Fashioned. A Manhattan tastes like kerosene to me. A shot and a beer? Not on your life.
There are exceptions of course. An Alexander at this South Side Institution:
Bethlehem didn't have a Hobby Lobby
“2,000 years ago, our dying race was given the most beautiful present ever imaginable.
The Twelve Cookies of Christmas: Cherry Nut Slices
Generally a post about a cookie shouldn’t make me teary-eyed. But this one does. When I started my 12 Cookies of Christmas series last year, I knew instantly what my final installment would be. It would be a tribute to my amazing mother-in-law Audrey.
Tears from our President don't mean much to me
Like every parent in the United States, the tragedy at Sandy Hook Elementary shook me to the core. I couldn’t stop crying that day; I hugged & kissed Kyla even more than usual; I prayed for the victims and their families. I couldn’t stop thinking, “Here I am baking cookies and wrapping presents and parents have to plan funerals for their young children.”
You're darn right, I say "Merry Christmas"
One of the reasons I can is because of our brave men and women in the military:

Last week I confessed I’m not a huge fan of brandy. I did mention exceptions including a regional, seasonal classic the Tom & Jerry.
It's December 26th and I would like to wish you a MERRY CHRISTMAS
Are you in a Christmas coma today? We are. It’s going to be a take-it-easy sort of day for me and Kyla; Kevin had to work but things are slow in his office today as well. I’ve always loved the day after Christmas as a day to enjoy things at my own pace. With Kyla getting more toys than you could imagine these last couple years, December 26 has been a day of boxes, assembly, games and discovery.

As my husband has said many times, we Wisconsinites are still learning how to do this:
One More End-of-Year List
Oh, what the heck. I’ll jump on the year-in-review bandwagon. While I generally try not to be one of those people that say “Well everyone else is doing it, I might as well” this is one exception I’m willing to make.
