Vanilla-Allspice Thumbprints
In my subscription to Better Homes and Gardens magazine last year, there was an article about easy, last-minute cookies to make to add to your trays and take to your parties. Even though my 12 Cookies of Christmas series was complete, and my own cookie collection was complete I thought “why not? Toss one more in.” I’m so glad I did! Everyone who sampled this one really enjoyed it, and Kevin’s coworkers even asked for the recipe.
Vanilla-Allspice Thumbprints are indeed easy and do freeze well. But for the second year in a row I did not find them to be a quick bake. According to the directions provided, they should be done in 9 minutes. My batches took 14 to 15 minutes despite my oven being temperature-accurate. So just make note that they could take you longer.
The simple spicy-sweet flavors of these thumbprints lend themselves to many great beverage pairings:
