Thompson Campaign Responds to Baldwin’s Attempt to
Hide from Her 9/11 Vote
Unanimous Support from Wisconsin Delegation – Except Baldwin
Madison, WI – The Tommy Thompson campaign released the following statement responding to the Baldwin campaign’s desperate attempt to cover up the fact she voted against honoring the victims of September 11, 2001.

“Tammy Baldwin is desperately attempting to hide the fact that she put her extreme agenda above the victims of the September 11, 2001 terrorist attacks,” said spokeswoman Lisa Boothe. “Baldwin was one of only 22 members to vote against H. Res. 994, a resolution that passed nearly unanimously with the bipartisan support of all of the Wisconsin delegation except for her, and one that even Nancy Pelosi supported. Unfortunately for Baldwin, there is nothing she can say to cover up the fact that she chose to politicize a vote over honoring the victims of September 11. Her actions, along with her votes against funding body armor for troops in battle and sanctions on Iran, strongly demonstrate that she is too extreme for Wisconsin and too dangerous for America.
“In sharp contrast, Tommy Thompson has always honored the victims of September 11 and the first responders who worked tirelessly to save so many lives that horrific day. From the moment our nation was attacked, Thompson committed himself to providing the health care that was needed for victims and first responders. As Health and Human Services Secretary, Tommy Thompson took immediate and decisive action to declare a national health emergency and began moving medical personnel, supplies and support to New York City immediately following the attacks. He was the first cabinet secretary at Ground Zero, where he executed the largest mobile response of emergency medical supplies and services in our nation's history.”
Following his work as Secretary, Thompson continued his dedication to ensuring that the victims of September 11 and our nation’s first responders received the care they rightfully deserved.
