Tommy Thompson Releases Newest Ad, “Dangerous Path”
Baldwin’s Extreme, Far-Left Agenda Puts Our Country in Jeopardy

Madison, WI – The Tommy Thompson campaign released its newest television ad today titled, “Dangerous Path.” The ad features veterans from different branches of the military condemning Madison liberal Tammy Baldwin for her disrespect of the victims of September 11 and her failure to support our nation's service members. The ad can be seen in markets statewide.

“Wisconsin voters need to know that Congresswoman Tammy Baldwin put her extreme views above honoring the men and women who were murdered by terrorists in the September 11 attacks on our nation,” said Thompson. “From voting against providing our troops with proper body armor and medical supplies to siding with Iran on economic sanctions, it is clear that Tammy Baldwin’s far-left approach is too extreme for Wisconsin and too dangerous for our country. Unlike my opponent, there is nothing that I take more seriously than protecting and honoring our American heroes who put their lives on the line to defend our great nation in the pursuit of freedom.

“On September 11, 2001, I stood on the frontlines of Ground Zero with our first responders. And as Secretary of Health and Human Services, I executed the largest mobile response of emergency medical supplies and services in our nation's history to help the victims and first responders at the World Trade Center site. After witnessing the most tremendous acts of bravery and human compassion that I have ever seen in my life, I am offended by Baldwin’s decision to turn her back on the survivors of that horrific day.”

KF NOTE: The Baldwin campaign and her cheerleaders, the media, are in full spin mode a la the Tasmanian Devil in a Bugs Bunny cartoon. The Journal Sentinel writes:

"But she voted against the 2006 resolution because it included divisive language, including an endorsement of the Patriot Act and immigration bills that Baldwin believes are punitive.

'Rather than offering a bipartisan resolution that unites us on this solemn occasion, the Republican leadership converted the bill into an endorsement of the PATRIOT Act, punitive immigration bills, and other highly controversial measures, which many of my constituents oppose,' Baldwin said on the floor in casting her vote."

This was a resolution, not a law. Baldwin could have used her floor time to denounce the additional language but speak in favor of a resolution that entailed how the US was responding to terrorism and then vote yes, the right thing to do. Because she's to the left of Pelosi and Reid who voted for the resolution, she voted no, demonstrating how out of touch she is with Wisconsin values.

Odd that Baldwin didn't find one word in the 906 pages of ObamaCare that she objected to that would have persuaded her to vote NO.

Baldwin Earns a Zero from the National Federation of Independent Business
Baldwin Supports Higher Taxes, More Spending and the Job-Killing Health Care Law

Madison, WI – Despite Tammy Baldwin’s feeble attempts to deceive voters about her liberal job-killing, tax-and-spend record in Washington D.C., she isn’t fooling anyone.  The National Federation of Independent Business (NFIB) has given Baldwin and her record on jobs a giant zero for the 112th Congress.

Over the past 14 years, Baldwin has voted in favor of higher taxes 159 times.  This Congress alone, she was the architect of the so-called Buffett Tax, which raises taxes on small businesses owners across the Wisconsin.  The Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel called this job-killing tax a “political gimmick” and the Wall Street Journal deemed it a “political ruse.”

Last Congress, Baldwin opposed President Obama’s tax cut compromise, which if she had her way it would have raised taxes on small business owners and killed jobs in Wisconsin. Baldwin also supported the health care law, one of the largest tax increases in history, which has punished small businesses with higher taxes.

“After leading the charge to raise taxes on small businesses owners in Wisconsin, it comes as no surprise that Madison liberal Tammy Baldwin has earned a zero rating from the NFIB,” said spokeswoman Lisa Boothe. “This November, Wisconsin voters are faced with a stark choice to make between a job-killer and a job creator.  During her 14 years in Congress, Baldwin’s economic policies have been hostile to small business owners and job growth.  As Governor of Wisconsin, Thompson worked hand-in-hand with the private sector to create over 740,000 jobs, earning him the endorsement of NFIB.  It is clear that Baldwin’s horrific record on jobs is too extreme for Wisconsin’s economy.”

Baldwin Introduced The Paying A Fair Share Act, Also Known As “The Buffett Rule”. (The Library Of Congress, thomas.loc.gov, Accessed 4/13/12)

  • The Wall Street Journal Called The Buffett Rule A “Political Ruse.” “The U.S. economy is still hobbling out of recession, real family incomes are falling and 14 million Americans are unemployed, but Mr. Obama declared that his top priority is not to reform the tax code to promote growth and job creation. His overriding goal is redistributing income. Mr. Obama endorsed the political ruse he calls the Buffett rule, which asserts as a matter of moral principle that millionaires should not pay a lower tax rate than middle-class wage earners... This isn’t tax fairness. It’s tax folly.” (Opinion, “The Buffett Ruse,” The Wall Street Journal, 1/26/12)
  • The Milwaukee Journal Sentinel Described The Buffett Rule As A “Political Gimmick.” “Obama’s Buffett Rule is a political gimmick… But the Buffett Rule is more likely to spawn a new generation of tax dodges than to usher in a new era of tax fairness. It is, in fact, nothing more than a smoke screen that obscures the possibility of real tax reform.” (Opinion, “Buffett Rule Is A Political Gimmick That Won’t Work,” The Milwaukee Journal Sentinel, 4/11/12)

Baldwin Voted Against President Obama’s Tax Cut Compromise.  (H.R. 4853, CQ Vote #647: Motion agreed to, thus clearing the bill for the president, 277-148: R 138-36; D 139-112, 12/17/10, Baldwin Voted Nay)

Baldwin Voted For The Health Care Overhaul Reconciliation. (H.R. 4872, CQ Vote #167: Passed 220-211: R 0-178; D 220-33, 3/21/10, Baldwin Voted Yea)
