Memorial Day, a Day to Reflect

Memorial Day is a patriotic day to remember military service members and reflect on the fruits of their labor. Military service members gave their lives and they labor today very far from home, making it possible for us to celebrate Memorial Day.

Memorial Day, the day to remember brave, heroic departed service members, comes during the beginning of summer. We mourn and we celebrate. We mourn our dearly departed service member’s deaths and we celebrate the longer days of summer.

We have military service members to thank for our lives, independence, and the pleasures we enjoy. Memorial Day weekend brings cemetery ceremonies, family celebrations, trips to vacation weekend destinations, camping, backyard parties, planting flowers and vegetables, sprucing up yards, opening swimming pools, door buster bargains, tinkering, and embracing the great outdoors.

Military members made it possible, and continue to make it possible, for us to have immense freedom for celebration, robust government, and robust political discussion.

Memorial Day is a day to reflect on the sacrifice of military, the sacrifice of military families, and share that information with future generations.

Please have a safe Memorial Day.
