Nothing Less Than Tiffanys

I’ve blogged about my amazing niece Kari.  Really:  if I posted her photo, marriage proposals in the comments section would come flooding in at such a rate that it would freeze FranklinNOW.com.

I admire her for many reasons, not the least of which is that she has not settled for the first Neanderthal that wanted to woo her.  She’s turned so many heads that I’m sure chiropractors in Southeastern Wisconsin get new patients weekly thanks to her.  But in addition to a list of requirements for simply dating a guy, she’s got very specific rules for “the one.”  The only way she’s gonna say yes to the ultimate question is if it is presented in a distinctive box:  “It was Charles Lewis Tiffany who mandated that the coveted boxes could only be acquired with a Tiffany purchase.  As reported by the New York Sun in 1906, “Tiffany has one thing in stock that you cannot buy of him for as much money as you may offer, he will only give it to you.  And that is one of his boxes.”

Call it snobbish if you want.  I call it smart.  It certainly narrows the choices.

This year, Tiffany’s will celebrate the 175th anniversary of the founding of its company.  As the recipient of a blue box gift myself, I can tell you there is nothing like the feeling of wearing a piece of their jewelry.  I can only imagine how a few carats of theirs would make your heart stop:
