This Just In ...

Kevin Fischer is a veteran broadcaster, the recipient of over 150 major journalism awards from the Milwaukee Press Club, the Wisconsin Associated Press, the Northwest Broadcast News Association, the Wisconsin Bar Association, and others. He has been seen and heard on Milwaukee TV and radio stations for over three decades. A longtime aide to state Senate Republicans in the Wisconsin Legislature, Kevin can be seen offering his views on the news on the public affairs program, "InterCHANGE," on Milwaukee Public Television Channel 10, and heard filling in on Newstalk 1130 WISN. He lives with his wife, Jennifer, and their lovely baby daughter, Kyla Audrey, in Franklin.

Tommy on Tax Day

Rarely is tax day a time to celebrate, and today is no different.  However, there is some positive news to share.

Last night, Senate Republicans voted down Tammy Baldwin's so-called "Buffett Tax" -- which is nothing more than a gimmick designed to distract voters from the $15.6 trillion deficit she helped create with President Obama.

The Buffett Tax would not balance the budget, create a single job, or fix the economy in any way. It was just more election year smoke and mirrors from a President and his top ally in Congress - Tammy Baldwin -- who are unwilling to do what is necessary to address our fiscal crisis and turn our economy around.

Our tax system is fundamentally dysfunctional and must be completely overhauled. Our current system is confusing, counterproductive, and devoid of any common sense. And the Buffett Tax would only make matters worse.

Last week, I unveiled my RESTORE America tax reform proposal which simplifies the tax code, reduces taxes on our families and incentivizes corporations to return trillions of dollars of foreign profits back home to boost our economy.

My proposal:
  • Makes the Bush tax cuts permanent
  • Phases in a flat tax
  • Exempts households earning less than $100,000 from capital gains taxes
  • Repeals federal taxation on Social Security benefits
  • Simplifies and lowers corporate income taxes
     
  • Eliminates taxation on foreign profits repatriated to the U.S. when those profits are used for investment in plant and equipment, job training, or research and development.
These common-sense steps will not only make our tax system more efficient, but also make our nation more competitive in the global marketplace

With your help, we will put an end to the tax-and-spend Washington culture enabled by the Obama Administration and liberal lawmakers such as Harry Reid and Tammy Baldwin.

I am a proven reformer who has the courage and conviction to finally do it.

My tax reform plan is just one element of my RESTORE America agenda. In the coming weeks, I'll continue to share more ideas for bringing America back by reforming entitlements, simplifying taxes and overturning regulatory excess. Stay tuned!
