What's better than Three Musketeers?

The latest in a long line of Three Musketeers movies opens in theaters Friday.

Oh, it’s bound to be cool with all its contemporary splash and special effects and swashbuckling bound to leave your eyes wide open.

But what’s better than Three Musketeers?

Try one Zorro.

My first exposure to the masked hero was watching Guy Williams in the Disney-produced TV version.

Good. Very good.

But not as good as Tyrone Power.

In 1940, Power played the role to a tee. How could wimpy Don Diego possibly be the mighty Zorro.

But Don Diego could dance. Ask Linda Darnell.

As for swashbuckling, Guy Williams always had the upper hand because he was pitted against buffoons for the most part. Not so with Tyrone Power.

This is an amazing scene. No computer generated tricks or editing. Just one on one with Basil Rathbone, a true master with the sword.

Enjoy.
