State Senator Mary Lazich (R-New Berlin) represents parts of four counties: Milwaukee, Waukesha, Racine, and Walworth. Her Senate District 28 includes New Berlin, Franklin, Greendale, Hales Corners, Muskego, Waterford, Big Bend, the town of Vernon and parts of Greenfield, East Troy, and Mukwonago. Senator Lazich has been in the Legislature for more than a decade. She considers herself a tireless crusader for lower taxes, reduced spending and smaller government.
Things stayed busy at the state Capitol this week.
Tuesday, the Senate approved two more of Gov. Walker’s nominations. Gary Hamblin will be the Secretary of Corrections and Ted Nickel will be the Commissioner of Insurance. I am confident both will do a great job.
The Senate debated and approved a bill that would require a two-thirds supermajority to approve tax increases.
Wednesday was a day full of meetings. During the morning, I met with Gov. Walker and he thanked me for my help on Special Session Senate Bill 4. After that, I had meetings with department secretaries as well as some other groups.
Thursday was an eventful day. The Senate was on the floor and approved a bill changing the way department administrative rules are crafted. The governor briefed Senate Republicans about his budget repair bill.
Today, the governor formally released his budget repair bill.
