The Official Franklin Tax and Spender Scorecard

In about a month or less, Franklin property taxpayers will be getting their annual Christmas present in the mail courtesy of the locally elected officials that have the power to tax and spend, even during a raging recession.

Six of the seven elected CITY officials supported a city budget that increases property taxes.

Four of seven elected SCHOOL BOARD members supported a school budget that increases property taxes. One member, David Works, was absent for the most important vote of the year. So, for our purposes and to be accurate, four of six elected School Board members present supported a school budget that increases property taxes.

That means that during this year’s budget cycle, 10 out of 13 elected city officials supported budgets that increase your property taxes, Franklin.  That’s 77% of your elected representatives voting to jack up your property taxes.

Let’s put this in some sort of perspective. Does anyone honestly believe that 77% of Franklin property taxpayers support property tax increases? I didn’t think so.

Conclusions:

Our elected representatives are completely out of touch with the populace.

Despite whatever positive spin the taxers and spenders put on their budgets (they claim they're "responsible"), Franklin is a tax hell.
